2023 AFCON: Ghana skipper Andre Ayew touches down in Accra ahead of Madagascar and Central African Republic games

Ghana skipper Andre Dede Ayew has touched down in the country ahead of next month’s 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers Madagascar and the Central African Republic.

Ayew was seen at the Nania Park in Legon on Wednesday as he watched his father’s team Nania FC take on Kwaebibirem in the Division One League.

The 32-year-old is expected to be named in Otto Addo’s squad for the qualifiers after missing the 2022 FIFA World Cup final play-offs round against Nigeria in Kumasi and Abuja due to suspension.

Black Stars will take on Madagascar and Central African Republic on June 1 and 5, 2022 respectively.

Ayew, who currently plays for Al Sadd SC has made 102 appearances for the Black Stars since making his debut for the four-time African champions under French gaffer Claude Le Roy.

He is just seven games away from equalling Asamoah Gyan’s record of 109 appearances in the Ghana jersey.

Ayew enjoyed an impressive first season with the Qatari side Al Sadd where he scored 18 goals in all competitions, helping them to win the league title under Xavi.
