The sports director Henrik Jurelius in an interview has explained why Ghana’s Ebenezer Ofori’s stay with AIK for the second time has not worked well after initial high expectations.

The hardworking midfielder completed a move to VfB Stuttgart from the Swedish side back in 2017 when they were playing in the German Bundesliga 1. He subsequently helped them to secure promotion to the top-flight before earning a loan move to MLS side New York City FC.

After spending the 2019 season in the US, he returned to Stuttgart but has now been re-signed by his former club, AIK Stockholm.

However, his second stint with the club did not work well as expected. He was loaned to Vejle during the January transfer window.

“Very boring. As a person, I love Ofori. We have a very good and open dialogue and have come close to each other. He was fantastic during his first time at AIK, but sometimes not everything works out. There are many individuals in a team and everything will match, and this time it was not the perfect match we had hoped for and predicted,” Henrik Jurelius said.

Ebenezer Ofori played 14 games for Danish club Vejle last season.
