“I am happy because my team has worked really hard throughout the season and kept focused to win on the last last,” he told Cecafa.com.

Medic’s side won the league championship with a tally of 53 points, one point ahead of second-placed Athletico New Oil Football Academy.

Speaking to Africa Top Sports from Burundi on Thursday, he said he was now eyeing second silverware as his team has reached the semifinal of a national Presidential Cup.

“Yesterday [Wednesday], we won the first semifinal leg 2-1 against Aigle Noir FC and the second leg will take place on Sunday and the final is on May 28,” Medic said.

He served as Pirates assistant coach under compatriot Kostad Papic between 2004 and 2006 during which time they came close to bagging the Premier Soccer League title.

The Serb, who has also managed clubs in Ghana among other countries, has since wished Pirates well ahead of their CAF Confederation Cup final meeting with RB Berkane on Friday in Nigeria.
