Goalkeeper Francis Uzoho of Nigeria has denied allegations that he is unwilling to play for his country again.

After a gaffe in Nigeria’s 1-1 home draw against old rivals Ghana in the 2022 FIFA World Cup playoffs in March, Uzoho came under fire.

Early in the first half, the Omonia Nicosia goalkeeper let Thomas Partey’s long-range shot slide through his grasp.

Despite equalising from the penalty spot thanks to defender William Troost-Ekong, the Super Eagles were eliminated due to the away goal rule.

On Monday, the media reported that Uzoho has abandoned international football after being left out of Nigeria’s squad for upcoming friendlies against Mexico and Ecuador.

However, the former Deportivo La Coruna player has poured cold water on the rumours.

“ I’m committed to playing for my dear country anytime I’m called up,”Uzoho told the Super Eagles media team.

The 23-year-old has 18 Super Eagles caps to his name.
