Kenya has missed the deadline to participate in Afcon 2023

Kenya will not compete in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, which begins its qualifying campaign in early June.

Kenya is unable to participate due to its continuing suspension from football by the international regulatory organization Fifa due to state intervention in the game’s administration.

Kenya needed their ban removed two weeks before their first Nations Cup qualifier if they were to compete in the 2023 tournament.

However, the deadline of Saturday, May 21, passed without Kenya being readmitted to the football community.

The Harambee Stars were scheduled to play Cameroon on June 4 before hosting Namibia four days later.

It means that Group C will now include Cameroon, Namibia, and Burundi, with the top two qualifying for the championship in Ivory Coast next year.
