News from South Africa Mamelodi Sundowns: Substitute Miche Minnies bags treble as Brazilians run riot against Ma-Indies Ladies

Miche Minnies was the star of the show as Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies registered a comprehensive 6-0 victory over Ma-Indies Ladies during the latest round of the Hollywoodbets Super League on Wednesday.

The 21-year-old came off the bench to score a memorable hat-trick which was complemented by a brace from Thembelihle Masibi and one from Boitumelo Rabale.

Masandawana started the game on the front foot with Boitumelo Rabale opening the scoring in the 22nd minute, her 14th strike of a hugely impressive campaign.

Two minutes later, Thembelihle Masibi was on the scoresheet with her second goal of the campaign as Sundowns Ladies dominated proceedings with ease. Masibi wasted no time in bagging her brace as the reigning champions cruised through the first half with a 3-0 score line.

The second half was dominated by Miche Minnies who came off the bench to score a dominant treble as Sundowns Ladies bagged their 16th win of the season.

Treble hero Miche Minnies was pleased with her performance as a super-sub, “I am very grateful to the coach for trusting me with an opportunity today to show my abilities in front of goal. I am happy with the three goals, but I am more excited with the win considering that we dropped points last time out. Kudos to the entire team for making this win possible. The plan is to switch our attention to the next game.”

Thembelihle Masibi who scored twice was full of praise for her teammates who responded positively after the draw against UWC.

“The draw against UWC was like a loss to the entire team. Thus, the plan was to grab an early goal in this fixture, and we duly achieved that to settle our nerves. The entire team played like warriors, and we are very happy with the outcome of the game. This was the best possible way to lift our spirits considering that we have another tough game coming. I would have loved to score a hat-trick as well, but I am happy with the overall outcome of the game,” Thembelihle declared.

Coach Jerry ‘Kappa’ Tshabalala expressed his satisfaction with the performance of his troops who redeemed themselves after the draw against UWC.

“What a response from the team today after we struggled last time out. One game cannot define us, and I am proud of the way we responded today. We responded like champions and the victory was resounding. We learned some valuable lessons from the last game, and I am glad our decisions today were spot-on across the pitch. Our counter-pressing and wing play was exceptional all-round,” Kappa stated.

The win meant Sundowns Ladies have now registered 49 points after accumulating 16 wins and one draw in 18 games played. The Brazilians have scored a league-high 78 goals and have conceded only 10 times, the best defense in the league.

On the Sundowns’ scoring chart, Boitumelo Rabale leads the way with 14 goals, while Miche Minnies have bagged an impressive 13 strikes. Andisiwe Mgcoyi has 10 goals to her name while Rhoda Mulaudzi, Gabonnelwe Kekana, and Melinda Kgadiete all have five goals.
