The fate of Morocco’s coach and Hakim Ziyech’s comeback are highly anticipated

Morocco’s selection for next month’s friendly against another World Cup-bound team the United States, as well as two Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers, will be closely scrutinized to determine if attacker Hakim Ziyech makes a comeback and coach Vahid Halilhodzic retains his job.

Morocco’s top player, Chelsea’s Ziyech, fell out with Vahid Halilhodzic last year and did not participate in either World Cup qualifiers or the Cup of Nations tournament in January.

Ziyech, and Noussair Mazraoui, 24, of Ajax Amsterdam, were pulled out of the team after Halilhodzic accused them of faking an injury in order to avoid playing for Morocco in June.

Morocco Football Federation president Fouzi Lekjaa has promised to bring back Ziyech. Coach Vahid Halilhodzic was in Amsterdam to speak to Noussair Mazraoui and is likely to do the same with Chelsea winger Hakim Ziyech.
