WAFU B U20: Flying Eagles Target Final Ticket Against Cote d’Ivoire

The Flying Eagles of Nigeria, who won Group B, will face Cote d’Ivoire, the second-placed team in Group A, in the second semi-final of the ongoing WAFU B U20 Championship in Niamey, Niger Republic, on Tuesday (today).

The prize is a ticket to next year’s Africa U20 Cup of Nations, which will be held in Egypt from February 18 to March 12.

Only the top two teams from the WAFU B tournament will advance to Egypt’s eight-team finals.

At 8 p.m., the Flying Eagles will face the Ivorians at the Stade General Seyni Kountché, following the first semi-final between Benin Republic and Burkina Faso.

Last Sunday, Ibrahim Muhammad and Ahmed Abdullahi scored in a 2-0 loss for African champions Ghana, before the Flying Eagles drew 2-2 with Burkina Faso on Wednesday.

The latter’s 2-1 win over Ghana qualified them for the final four.

Despite the fact that top scorer Ahmed Abdullahi is out of the competition due to injury, Flying Eagles coach Ladan Bosso is sure that his team will rise to the challenge against the Ivorians and earn a trip to Egypt.

On Tuesday, Benin Republic and Burkina Faso will meet in the first semi-final.
