After losing to Burkina Faso in their final group game on Saturday, Ghana was eliminated from the WAFU U20 Championship.
The Black Satellites had hoped to win the event for the second consecutive year, but they were defeated 2-1.
They needed to beat Burkina Faso after losing their first encounter to Nigeria.
They will not move to the next round as a result of the loss, and they will also miss out on qualifying for the Africa Cup of Nations, which they won last year.
They will also be absent from the U20 World Cup.
Burkina Faso took the lead in the 33rd minute, but Alex Sarfo equalised for the Black Satellites just before halftime.
The Black Satellites’ dreams were crushed in the 93rd minute when the Burkinabe scored the game-winning goal.
Meanwhile, the Nigeria Flying Eagles will face Cote d’Ivoire in the WAFU B semi-finals on Tuesday, while Benin Republic will face Burkina Faso.
The two finalists will represent the WAFU B zone in the U20 AFCON next year.
