Henri Deloni, a Frenchman who held many sports positions during the first half of the last century, including UEFA Secretary General and President of the French Football Federation.
He is known as the owner of the idea of creating the European Championship, and before he held those positions he was a referee of football, but a funny incident was behind his retirement from the profession of arbitration and his direction to administrative work.
He was leading one of the matches of the French championship at the beginning of the last century, between the teams of Garren Dove and Benevoylance, when he was hit by a strong shot from one of the players, which hit his face directly, and caused him to swallow the whistle that was in his mouth, in addition to losing two teeth!
