Chelsea exit race for ideal striker signing as priority target named

Chelsea could eventually regret reportedly leaving the transfer chase for a potentially ideal Premier League signing in Ivan Toney. If Arsenal sign the Brentford striker and he succeeds at Emirates Stadium, it will be even more difficult for Blues supporters to accept. Yet the west Londoners’ policy is to buy promising starlets. Elsewhere, CFC manager Mauricio Pochettino is lauded by a popular pundit.

If you have read my thoughts on Chelsea’s centreforwards, you’ll know that I rate Nicolas Jackson. I admire Armando Broja too. Yet I am absolutely unsure either are suitable for the heights Chelsea aim for. Nevertheless, both have potential. I have written my opinion on Toney a few times as well: he’d be perfect at Stamford Bridge. Unfortunately, the Englishman signing for the Blues doesn’t seem likely anymore. If it ever was.

Basically, a report suggests that the Blues have ended their interest in the Brentford man. And Arsenal may get the attacker on a ‘cut-price’ deal. With CFC targeting younger stars, maybe the 27-year-old was never a truly realistic signing. Napoli’s Victor Osimhen is apparently Chelsea’s priority.

Jamie Carragher has designated Pochettino as the best thing about Chelsea Football Club right now. And the former Liverpool defender is probably right. While Carragher was particularly complimentary of the Chels‘ boss, it was also a backhanded compliment for the Blues. You see, the Sky Sports personality made sure to mention that he certainly wasn’t praising the players, and definitely not the owners.

Following the pulsating 4-4 draw between Chelsea and Manchester City at the weekend, Carragher insisted that the ex-Tottenham Hotspur and Paris Saint-Germain gaffer is the most important person on Fulham Road. It is hard to disagree. Furthermore, the 45-year-old claims that there was no superior head coaches available when the capital club appointed the Argentine.
