Chelsea’s major transfer setback as boss meets with star over form

According to Napoli club president Aurelio De Laurentiis, Chelsea will be dealt an imminent major transfer blow. And Blues boss Mauricio Pochettino meets with a star of the west London club over his uneven performances.

Chelsea’s top transfer target is set to sign a new contract with his current club in Italy. The Standard assert that this could mean the Blues missing out on Victor Osimhen:

“With Osimhen, we are about to sign the contract that was pending this summer.”

– Aurelio De Laurentiis

It was always going to be very difficult for Caicedo to hit the ground running at Stamford Bridge. Why, you ask? Well, the Blues are being reworked. And, in spite of a top manager and obscene amounts of money being thrown, occasionally aimlessly, at signings, it could take years to get back to being a genuine Premier League title-hunting team once again. Hopefully not, but that the truth.

Into that regularly struggling and mackled together side, gems are carelessly and often unimaginatively placed. Expecting players such as Caicedo, Enzo Fernandez, Mykhailo Mudryk or even Nicolas Jackson to have major impact in an immediate and influential and consistent capacity is fanciful. Like everything else on Fulham Road at the moment it’ll take time to get the best out of a high calibre midfielder pairing such as Fernandez and Caicedo. This is mainly because of the developing lineup surrounding them, as opposed to their own shortcomings or poor displays.

However, Pochettino has revealed that he met with the Ecuadorian for a one-on-one chat about recent showings before playing his former club, Brighton & Hove Albion. The Argentine suggests that his £115 million talent has not been at his best. ‘Poch’ claims that Caicedo’s process is subconscious, and therefore means it takes a spell for athletes to adapt.
