Adrien Rabiot’s mum hits back at ‘false’ Manchester United transfer claims

Rabiot became a player of interest for United in Erik ten Hag&aposs first summer transfer window when it became clear a move for Frenkie de Jong was not possible. The Reds&apos representatives travelled to Turin for negotiations but a deal was not agreed and eventually, the club signed Casemiro.

Briefly, Rabiot was again an option for United but the Frenchman decided to sign a one-year contract at Juve. Some rumours have suggested the Reds are going to attempt to sign the 28-year-old when his deal expires in Italy but it would seem plenty of work will need to be done with the player&aposs mother Veronique before this could happen.

Speaking about the failed move to United, Rabiot declared suggestions her son rejected the Premier League side for money were false. “Did it all fall apart due to a question of money? All false,” she said via Sport Witness.

“United wanted to meet me to illustrate the interest in Adrien, but we never talked about money in detail because he quickly decided to stay in Turin. There were never any real negotiations.”

United&aposs midfield remains a sore spot for Ten Hag as injuries have mounted up this season. Mason Mount and Sofyan Amrabat have been added to the squad but neither have shown glimpses of the players the manager or fans expected when they arrived from Chelsea and Fiorentina respectively. The Reds return to Premier League action on Saturday against Fulham.
