Alan Shearer claims Rasmus Hojlund will be having ‘sleepless nights’ at Manchester United

Hojlund arrived at Old Trafford in a 72m deal from Atalanta in the summer. In the Champions League the 20-year-old has settled tremendously scoring five goals so far.

However the Premier League has been a tough nut to crack. Despite showing plenty of effort and getting into the right areas, Hojlund has still not scored domestically as we head into the international break.

Discussing Hojlund&aposs current form, Shearer admitted he felt sorry for the Dane due to the position he finds himself in at present. “I feel a bit sorry for him,” he explained on The Rest is Football podcast.

“He shouldnt be in the position he is in, in terms of the fee thats been paid for him and the pressure that is on him. He should be one that is in, then out, using him as a substitute and starting him here and there.

“They should have a big hitter in there so I do have a bit of sympathy for him. I do see that there is a potential goal-scorer in there. He will be having sleepless nights with what is happening in front of goal in the Premier League.”

Unfortunately for Hojlund, he could now be set for some time on the sidelines after sustaining an apparent hamstring injury in the victory over Luton. On Monday, the Danish FA confirmed both Hojlund and Christian Eriksen had withdrawn from their national team squad.
