Crystal Palace have offered Manchester United a transfer solution for Erik ten Hag – Casey Evans

Bruno Fernandes opened the scoring and United looked in control for the first half. However, the second period was a different story as Palace fought back and eventually got their equaliser thanks to a stunning free-kick by Michael Olise in added time.

United fans will also be disappointed that Casemiro picked up a yellow card, meaning he&aposs now suspended for the club&aposs trip to Arsenal this weekend.

One of the reasons United struggled to get the second goal and put the game to bed was down to Palace defender Chris Richards. The young USA defender was standing in for stalwart Joachim Andersen who was ruled out through injury.

The centre-back was signed from Bayern Munich in the summer after spending two years at the German club. Bayern signed him from FC Dallas after he impressed in MLS as a teenager.

Richards linked up well with Nathaniel Clyne and Will Hughes to stop Marcus Rashford from having free rein down the left and in the process, ended the forward&aposs streak of scoring in seven consecutive games. The 22-year-old looked calm and composed following the attacker as he attempted to weave in and out of Palace&aposs back line.

The defender did show his inexperience once, making a rash tackle against Scott McTominay which could have resulted in a penalty. However, he is young and has time to learn, especially when he receives more regular minutes at Selhurst Park.

With United possibly in the market for another defender in the summer, Richards and his defensive partner Marc Guehi should both be on United&aposs radar.

Erik ten Hag will have other priorities in the transfer market, including a central midfielder and a striker, but centre-back is a position that United will have to address again in the future, and by that time Richards may have played his way onto the shortlist.
