The pair have played together a number of times for their country, although Jota missed the World Cup with a long-term injury. Silva was the subject of links away from City for yet another year this summer.
Barcelona had shown interest but City ultimately managed to tie the 29-year-old to a contract extension. Silva has won five Premier League titles with the Blues and scored several important goals on their way to the Treble last season.
So when Jota was asked by That&aposs Football which international colleague hed like Liverpool to sign the most, he replied: “Bernardo [Silva]. For me, he&aposs probably one of the most intelligent football guys I&aposve ever known and the way he can hide the ball from opponents is special.”
It means the Liverpool attacker snubbed the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Bruno Fernandes and Joao Cancelo. Silva has played four City games this season, only missing the other two due to a muscular injury.
He grabbed the assist for Portugals winner in their 1-0 Euro 2024 qualifying triumph against Slovakia before setting up another goal in their 9-0 mauling of Luxembourg. City fans will hope he carries on that form this weekend against West Ham.
