Erik ten Hag gives Donny van de Beek injury update as Marcus Rashford message sent

United provide Van de Beek injury update

Erik ten Hag admits things “do not look good” for Manchester United midfielder Donny van de Beek following the injury he picked up during the victory over Bournemouth.

Van de Beek was one of four changes to the United side for their 3-0 win on Tuesday night, but he was forced off the pitch shortly before half-time following a robust challenge from Marcos Senesi – who slipped as he challenged his opponent for the ball on the edge of the penalty area and followed through heavily.

United midfielder Van de Beek was close to tears as he received treatment on the pitch while he was also in huge discomfort as he hobbled off to be replaced by forward Alejandro Garnacho.

Shearer makes Ronaldo and Rashford point

Alan Shearer says the absence of Cristiano Ronaldo in the Manchester United squad has allowed Marcus Rashford to reproduce his best form this campaign.

Rashford, who netted in the win against Bournemouth on Tuesday night, is already in double figures for the season after scoring just five goals last term. He also made his mark for England at the World Cup as he and Arsenal forward Bukayo Saka scored three goals each at the tournament.

Goals from Casemiro and Luke Shaw put United in full control at Old Trafford in their latest Premier League match, meanwhile, as Rashford added a third late on. It was his 15th goal for club and country in 23 games to underline his return to top form under manager Erik ten Hag.
