Erik ten Tag told Manchester United don’t need Joao Felix amid transfer search

Former Chelsea striker Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink has outlined the reason why the Portugal international should not be a target for United this month amid reports linking him with a move. United have made a move to sign Wout Weghorst, the Netherlands international currently on loan at Besiktas from Burnley.

Felix, meanwhile, has struggled to establish himself at Atletico Madrid with struggles for the versatile forward to fit into Diego Simeone&aposs system at the club. He is a versatile forward who can operate in a number of roles across the forward line, a very different profile to Weghorst, who is a more traditional focal point upfront.

Felix has a number of suitors, with both Arsenal and Chelsea also linked to the player as they look to strengthen their forward line. However, Hasselbaink has pinpointed Chelsea as the best destination for the former Benfica academy product amid their current goalscoring woes.

Speaking to Betway, he said: “Arsenal don&apost need Joao Felix, they need a different kind of profile. Man United need an out-and-out striker, they have enough wingers and Chelsea are more in need but it depends which position they see him playing in. Chelsea need to do business across the whole front three and they need also do business in midfield so Joao Felix would suit Chelsea most.”

The Manchester Evening News understands United are working on a new and improved compensation package for Besiktas that would convince the Turkish side to cancel Weghorst&aposs loan this month after a first bid was rejected.
