Facundo Pellistri’s four-word verdict after finally making his Manchester United debut

Pellistri, 21, touched down in the Premier League more than two years ago now, but it was not until his late cameo against Carabao Cup opponents Charlton Athletic that the fleet-footed international got to savour his first moment wearing the famous red shirt. He made quite the impression, too.

Summoned by Erik ten Hag with 84 minutes on the clock at Old Trafford, the 9million player signed by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer cut inside to tee-up Marcus Rashford for his first goal on what was a record-breaking night for the in-form England striker, who also started on the substitutes bench.

Rashford made it 3-0 in the dying embers, while Antony opened the scoring with a stunning curler, but they were not the only forwards to play their part as United booked their spot in the Carabao Cup semi-finals as Ten Hag and his developing squad aim to bring silverware back to Old Trafford this season.

Shortly after the full-time whistle sounded, Pellistri logged onto Instagram to upload pictures from the match. He added a caption which read: “The day has come.”

He continued: “Happy to make my official debut.”

His post was quickly inundated with several likes and comments, from players – including David de Gea and Zidane Iqbal – and supporters.
