Fernandes, who scored a controversial leveller during United&aposs 2-1 derby day win over Manchester City on Saturday, returned to his natural attacking-midfield berth against Palace and bossed proceedings inside the opening 45 minutes, leading by example with the captain&aposs armband on.
His goal arrived just three minutes after goalkeeper David de Gea had made a stunning save to thwart Odsonne Edouard, meaning the deadlock-breaker arrived at a significant juncture in the contest.
