Former Manchester United star highlights ‘very important’ asset that will make Antony a success

The 85million deadline day signing has scored twice in his six matches since the mid-season pause but fans largely agree he hasnt generated the overall performances to match his output. The Brazilian netted in his first three Premier League outings after arriving from Ajax but failed to convert in his following six matches in the competition.

Antony suffered from a knock prior to the World Cup, keeping him out for five games before he jetted off to Qatar, where he made two starts in three appearances for his nation. His displays since his return have underwhelmed many of the United faithful with some claiming he is yet to live up to his price tag.

However, former United defender Mikael Silvestre has backed the 22-year-old to continue his overall progression, pointing towards his mentality as the reason why his lull in form will not faze him.

Speaking to BettingExpert, he said: I like what he does in general. He is creating a lot of chances for himself and his teammates. I was very impressed with him in the beginning and now there has been a break because of the World Cup and it looks like he needs to get back on track.

But I expect him to be a major asset for Man United for the rest of the season. He has the right attitude and I honestly dont think that the critics will affect him, which is very important. You need to be strong mentally when you play for Man United.
