That is according to a report from German news outlet Sport1. The Bundesliga star is said to be in talks with his current employers over a new contract with his current deal set to expire in 2025.
But the report claims that Kimmich hasnt felt the trust of the club in the last few months and that his renewal doesnt seem to be a foregone conclusion. That could open the door to a potential move, with Kimmich said to have good options abroad.
City are said to be one of those, alongside LaLiga giants Barcelona – who could compete with Pep Guardiola&aposs side for the midfielder&aposs signature. The report adds that should Kimmich decide not to extend his stay at the German side, then next summer would be Bayern&aposs &aposlast opportunity&apos to generate a transfer fee through his sale.
Kimmich played for City manager Guardiola at Bayern and so a move could see the pair reunite in Manchester. Elsewhere, Football Insider claims City will let Zack Steffen leave the club next year.
Steffen spent last season on loan at Middlesbrough where he made 45 appearances, keeping 10 clean sheets and conceding 56 goals. Like Kimmich, Steffen&aposs contract is also set to expire in 2025 and it is claimed City have decided the goalkeeper as &aposno long-term future at the club&apos.
The transfer window has been a hectic one and City have been busy, with high-profile signings and sales aplenty.
City snapped up Croatian pair Mateo Kovacic and Josko Gvardiol from Chelsea and RB Leipzig respectively with the latest addition being Jeremy Doku. Wolves&apos Matheus Nunes then joined the Blues on deadline day. In terms of outgoings, Treble winner Ilkay Gundogan departed for Barcelona, Aymeric Laporte and Riyad Mahrez moved to Saudi Arabia, and Cole Palmer completed a shock move to Chelsea.
