Man City stars given dressing room warning by Pep Guardiola before Chelsea

A routine 3-0 win over Young Boys brought City&aposs fourth win in as many group games, securing their place in the knockout rounds for the 11th consecutive year with two matches to spare. Having dominated English football over the last decade, the Blues have built a platform that can build on their maiden Champions League title.

Chelsea beat City in the 2021 European final and also won the Premier League in Guardiola&aposs first season in English football, yet have struggled for consistency despite record spending. The West London club have blown through more than 1bn in the last three transfer windows alone – including purchasing Raheem Sterling and Cole Palmer from City – yet finished 12th in the league last year and are 10th going into this game.

Asked if Chelsea served as a warning to City during their success, Guardiola said: “Absolutely. Absolutely. Any comment about Chelsea, Im not there, but always we remind ourselves.

“So the other day, we qualified and (players were) so its normal. I said to the players, celebrate because one day, maybe we are not there if we stop doing what we have to do.&apos

“Maybe the opponents are better than us and we will not be there. Thats why Im completely with you – for the fact that what we have done in the past, we are doing well, you can go down and the down never ends! You can be more and more and more.
