According to GiveMeSport, United view Newcastle as a threat since the Tyneside club completed its Sauid-backed takeover last year. The report claims that Eddie Howe's side have made recent inquiries over moves for both Jesse Lingard and Dean Henderson, but both propositions were turned away due to the club's reluctance to do business with a potential rival.
It is claimed United are worried that that Newcastle will one day be rivalling the Reds in the league following the recent takeover. The Magpies are currently five points behind United in the table, having only won one of their opening six matches this season – showing that Erik ten Hag might not be as worried about them as the report suggests.
Elsewhere, Calciomercato report (via The Express ), that Liverpool are set to capitalise on United's failure to sign Ibrahim Sangare this summer from PSV, as they line up a move for the 24-year-old.
It is claimed that Ten Hag had been interested in bringing Sangare to Old Trafford this transfer window, but having missed the opportunity to sign the midfielder, it might now be too late for a second attempt. Jurgen Klopp's side are rumoured to be looking to agree a deal for the Ivory Coast international in a bid to bolster their midfield options for the rest of the season.
Liverpool's poor start to the season has seen a renewed focus on their January transfer window planning, as they appear to have stolen a march on one of United's potential targets.
