Manchester United defender Harry Maguire receives apology from Ghanaian parliament

Maguire made just eight league starts last season and he was bizarrely joked about in Ghanaian parliament in December 2022, with an official comparing the country&aposs bleak economic situation to his defending. But Isaac Adongo, the man responsible for the joke, has now issued an apology for his comments that went viral on social media.

Adongo compared Maguire to Ghana&aposs vice president, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, when he initially described them both as poor performers, but he retracted his statement and praised the centre-back for his turnaround this season.

“Harry Maguire is now scoring goals for Manchester United. Maguire is now a key player for Manchester,” Adongo said on Tuesday.

The original clip of Adongo speaking in Ghanaian parliament last year received millions of views in a difficult season for Maguire in which he lost his starting role and was given limited opportunities by United manager Erik ten Hag.
