Manchester United planning to axe John Murtough as Andre Onana injury update given

Richard Arnold has already stepped down amid expectations he would have been replaced anyway, while United are now plotting their next changeover in the hierarchy.

Football director John Murtough has been at the club for 10 years but this season may be his last with the owners scheduled to show him the door. Meanwhile, United have received an update from Cameroon on the fitness of Andre Onana after he picked up an injury in their last outing.

United are planning to replace Murtough as football director as part of sweeping changes amid impending investment from the Ineos Group.

A well-placed source says that Murtough is “definitely going” amid a preference for a new figurehead for the football department.

The Manchester Evening News reported earlier this month Murtough and chief executive Richard Arnold&aposs roles were both in jeopardy.

The Cameroonian Football Federation has confirmed that Andre Onana will miss Tuesday&aposs World Cup qualifier against Libya through injury.

The goalkeeper, who joined United from Italian outfit Inter Milan in the summer, was forced off in the latter stages of Friday&aposs 3-0 win over Mauritius. He was withdrawn after 81 minutes with an unspecified injury and was replaced by Fabrice Ondoa.
