Manchester United ‘watching’ RB Leipzig youngster and more transfer rumours

That is according to a report by German publication Bild, which claims United have recently watched him &aposagain and again&apos. The Reds are poised to make signing a new central defender one of their leading transfer priorities in 2024.

The club, despite adding Lisandro Martinez and Jonny Evans to their pool of centre-backs since Erik ten Hag took over as manager in the summer of 2022, need to think about planning for the long term in the heart of their defence. They have been heavily linked with OGC ace Jean-Clair Todibo in recent weeks.

Lukeba joined Leipzig as recently as August, joining the German outfit from Lyon for a reported fee of 34million. He also put pen to paper on a five-year deal, taking him through to the summer of 2028.

The youngster, who made his senior debut for France last month, has made 16 appearances for Leipzig so far, chipping in with one goal. He has settled into life in Germany fairly quickly, recently establishing himself as a key fixture in Leipzig boss Marco Rose&aposs plans.

Meanwhile, United are said to still be &aposinterested&apos in signing Sporting Lisbon defender Goncalo Inacio. That is according to a report by Portuguese newspaper Record, as cited by ManUtdNews, which claims the Reds want to get a deal done in the January transfer window.

Inacio, 22, is one of a handful of centre-backs who has frequently been linked with a move to Old Trafford in recent weeks. He is considered one of the very best up-and-coming defenders in Europe.
