Amad played 37 matches for the Championship outfit under Mowbray last season – scoring 13 goals and providing three assists – before returning to Old Trafford. The 21-year-old has yet to feature for United this campaign after picking up a knee injury during their summer preparations.
Sunderland axed Mowbray on Monday night after 15 months in the job. The Black Cats were held by Millwall in their most-recent fixture as they slipped to ninth in the table. The search will now begin for Mowbray&aposs replacement and Amad has reached out to the 60-year-old to thank him for his guidance.
He uploaded a short story about Mowbray on to his Instagram profile. In it he praised the 60-year-old for his help in developing his career.
It read: “Thanks for having [helping] me a lot in my training. Good luck boss.”
Amad added three emojis.
Mowbray drew plaudits for the attacking football he produced at Sunderland and Amad benefited from that with his goal contributions last season. It helped the Ivory Coast international put a difficult loan spell at Rangers behind him as now he attempts to continue his development at Old Trafford.
