On Wednesday rumours suggested Sancho was being targeted by an unknown Saudi Arabian club after a public falling out with Erik ten Hag on Sunday. The Englishman had taken exception to comments made by the manager post-match when he claimed the reason the forward was not in the squad against Arsenal was because of his training form.
Sancho would later claim this was &aposuntrue&apos and declared himself a &aposscapegoat&apos during his time at United. In a bid to offer him a way out of Manchester, Al Ettifaq reportedly approached the Reds over a loan move but The Athletic&aposs David Ornstein is adamant Sancho will not be leaving for the Middle East.
A further report from 90min claimed United were only willing to let Sancho leave on loan if the deal included a 50m obligation to buy clause but this was out of the Saudi club&aposs reach. Elsewhere, The Athletic believes young left-back Alvaro Fernandez remains in United&aposs plans despite leaving on loan on deadline day.
Fernandez, who spent last season on loan at Championship side Preston North End, joined Granada for the campaign and some feared this would be the end for him at Old Trafford. In contrast, the club are thought to be impressed with how the left-back has matured since his spell at Deepdale and think he could be in and around the first team next season.
