Marcus Rashford’s resurgence gives Erik ten Hag a transfer decision to make over Napoli duo

Towards the end of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer&aposs reign and under Ralf Rangnick, Rashford had struggled during the 2021/22 campaign. He only played 1,652 minutes and scored five goals, seemingly being replaced by Anthony Elanga by the Austrian manager.

Some fans believed that the player would not recover, but under Ten Hag he has returned to his best form and in many ways, has improved further.

One of the key parts of Rashford&aposs resurgence is how he has been effective regardless of his position in the forward line. Under previous managers (bar his debut season under Louis van Gaal), the 25-year-old had mainly played on the left wing but Ten Hag has deployed him as a striker and on the right, and the attacker has still thrived.

Given that Rashford has scored goals with his left, right, and head, there is now a serious decision to be made about whether he can be United&aposs striker going forward. And this could have a knock-on effect on the club&aposs transfer plans in the summer.

The MEN revealed last year that United are interested in a move for Napoli&aposs Victor Osimhen this summer. The Nigerian forward is the top scorer in the Serie A this season with 12 goals in 14 games for the Italian outfit.

Over the weekend he contributed to Napoli&aposs thrashing of second-placed Juventus. Osimhen scored a brace in a 5-1 win over Massimiliano Allegri&aposs men and cemented their title ambitions.

But watching the game many fans questioned whether United should actually move for his attacking partner, Kvicha Kvaratskhelia. The Georgian winger, nicknamed &aposKvaradona&apos by Napoli fans, has been exceptional since his move to Italy in the summer.

Against Liverpool in the Champions League, he showed how he can be unstoppable going forward and an incredible creative entity on the left-hand side. One of United&aposs problems in the past has been their inability to break down low blocks and the 21-year-old would allow them to bypass this.

However, there is the issue that United already have a deep pool of left-wingers including Rashford, Jadon Sancho, Alejandro Garnacho and Anthony Elanga. Therefore a striker might be a better investment.

So who should United move for in the summer; Osimhen or Kvaratshkelia? Whoever United decide to move for they will be getting an excellent talent who will upgrade their forward line.
