News From Manchester: Erik ten Hag confirms Manchester United pre-season schedule ahead of summer transfer window

United lost 1-0 against Crystal Palace on the final day of the season on Sunday afternoon. Although the Premier League season is over, Junes set of international fixtures begin next weekend and some of United's internationals will soon be back in action.

However, United's players have the opportunity for a break between the Palace defeat and the start of June's international fixtures. The players will also have just under two weeks to recharge after international duty before pre-season starts at Carrington. Ten Hag has confirmed pre-season will start on Monday, 27 June, which is 13 days after England's last international fixture.

United will play pre-season friendlies in Australia and the Far East this summer as part of their first pre-season tour for three years.

Ten Hag was asked about his pre-season plans and he discussed his expectations for his players when they report for training.

First, we have a break,” Ten Hag confirmed to United's in-house media.

“We will start pre-season on 27 June and I will get a few of the squad, [a few] of the individual players. In certain positions we want to renew the squad, but as I said, one year ago, this squad was second in the league, so there is potential.

“Im really looking forward to co-operating with the squad. That [working with the current players] is really exciting. Also for me, of course, its new. I was at Ajax for a long time: four-and-a-half years. We had a great time, but now its a new start also for me and we have to build it up from the bottom, on zero. I have to build, starting a new relationship with the squad, with my players.

“That [players trying to impress] is what I expect. I have high expectations from myself and that is also what I demand from my squad. They have to co-operate together and they have to give every day their best.
