Police investigating alleged assault on Roy Keane after Arsenal vs Manchester United

Footage circulating on social media appears to show the aftermath of the incident in which former Manchester City player Micah Richards – who was on punditry duty alongside Keane for Sky Sports during Uniteds 3-1 loss to Arsenal – is seen restraining a man alongside an unhappy-looking Keane.

No arrests have yet been made but police enquiries are ongoing. Sky has confirmed both Richards and Keane have made statements to officers.

A statement from the Metropolitan Police said: Police are investigating following an assault that is alleged to have occurred at the Emirates Stadium during an Arsenal vs Manchester United match on Sunday, 3 September.

“There have been no arrests. Enquiries are ongoing. Any witnesses or those with information are asked to call 101 ref CAD 6961/3 Sept.”

In a statement to the Daily Mail, Sky told the Daily Mail: &aposWe understand the police are investigating an alleged assault by a member of the public immediately preceding the footage circulating on social media. In the footage seen, Micah Richards was acting to defuse a situation.
