As we have come to expect with the Blues, at the end of the campaign several big names opted to leave the club. The most notable departure was Ilkay Gundogan who decided not to renew his contract at the start of the close-season and joined Barcelona on a free transfer.
Riyad Mahrez and Aymeric Laporte soon followed suit with transfers to Saudi Pro League clubs Al Ahli and Al Nassr respectively. It was not all outgoings for City though.
Highly-rated Croatian defender Josko Gvardiol moved to Manchester from RB Leipzig in arguably the transfer of the summer. Exciting young winger Jeremy Doku arrived from Stade Rennais while the Blues&apos central midfield was bolstered by the additions of Mateo Kovacic and Matheus Nunes from Chelsea and Wolverhampton Wanderers respectively.
As part of the Nunes deal, youngster Tommy Doyle joined the West Midlands club on loan in what could be a pivotal stint for the midfielder. In fact, transfers from City&aposs EDS dominated the outgoings with the likes of Carlos Borges, James McAtee and Maximo Perrone among the players to leave the club permanently or on loan.
