Ten red cards – Man City boss Pep Guardiola makes point after Erling Haaland reaction

City were furious when Haaland was fouled in second half injury time with the score at 3-3, with the striker picking himself up and sending through Jack Grealish clean on goal. Referee Simon Hooper initially waved play on, before pulling it back for the foul after Grealish had controlled the through ball and started running towards goal.

Haaland led the City protests as most of the side surrounded Hooper, and the striker was still angry at full-time. After the game, he posted a video of the incident with the caption &aposWTF&apos, underlining his anger.

Afterwards, Guardiola declined to blame the incident for the reason why City dropped points, and also defended Haaland&aposs angry reaction as &aposnormal&apos. Guardiola went further, saying if Haaland was to be punished for his reaction, then so should the rest of his teammates who surrounded the referee.

“It&aposs normal. His reaction was the same for 10 players,” Guardiola said. “The rules are you cannot talk with the referees or fourth officials so we should have had 10 players sent off today. Hes a little bit disappointed.”
