‘There’s no doubt’ – Former Man City defender calls for Jeremy Doku to start over Jack Grealish

Doku has enjoyed an excellent start to life at City, having arrived in a 55.5million deal from French side Rennes over the summer. The Belgian international has three goals and six assists in his first 14 appearances, including, including four assists in just one game – a 6-1 win over Bournemouth.

Pep Guardiola described Doku as a &aposproper winger&apos and has often used the 21-year-old in games where individual moments are needed. And Sagna believes the summer signing has earned his place in the starting line-up.

Jeremy Doku is electric and the type of player who can create something from nothing,” Sagna told Paddy Power. “He&aposs so good in one v one situations and as a defender, it must be so difficult to face him.

“Hes very powerful and unpredictable and the way he plays, hes so direct. He creates lots of chances and gets assists for everyone and defenders will know more about him now so centre-backs will know they have to help the right back more.

“Hes drawing attention to him which will leave more space for players like Erling Haaland and the midfielders to run into. Hes one of the most influential players for Manchester City today and he deserves to start ahead of Jack Grealish.

Theres no doubt about Grealishs quality. Hes still one of the best players in England but he needs to work and be patient. The season is long and thats why Man City are where they are. Pep Guardiola is able to bring competition between the players which is good for Grealish, but it wont be easy for him to get back into the team because Doku is amazing.
