‘Too many lazy players’ – Paul Scholes blasts ‘rubbish’ Manchester United after Newcastle loss

Erik ten Hag&aposs side suffered their sixth Premier League defeat of the season at St James&apos Park, falling to a second-half Anthony Gordon winner as he got on the end of Kieran Trippier&aposs cross. Newcastle could have been comfortably ahead by that point and outfought their visitors for much of the 90 minutes.

United were largely ineffective going forward until the introduction of Rasmus Hojlund and Antony, in place of Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford. But despite a minor late flurry, they were unable to equalise and Newcastle were well worthy of their win.

RATINGS: Martial and Rashford poor in defeat vs Newcastle

“Rubbish. Theyre a poor football team at this minute, aren&apost they?” Scholes told Premier League Productions. “Those results theyve had recently are misleading.

“Too many lazy players on the football team – you cant get away with that. Going to these places, the first thing you do is work hard. You can see the joy that Newcastle are getting down both sides and feel sorry for the full backs.”
