What Edwin van der Sar told Altay Bayindir about Manchester United teammate Andre Onana

Bayindir is yet to feature for United after arriving in a 4.3million deal from Fenerbahce over the summer. The Turkey international was drafted in as a late back-up to Onana, a much earlier signing for 47.2m.

Despite some teething problems, Onana has been ever-present between the posts and even started in both Carabao Cup games against Crystal Palace and Newcastle. Bayindir did start in Turkey&aposs 3-2 win over Germany on Saturday.

In an interview with United&aposs in-house media, Bayindir admitted that his favourite goalkeeper growing up was Van der Sar. And the Dutchman has now responded, writing in the comments section of a social media post plugging the interview: “Hi Altay, will see you soon in Manchester and we will have a chat about goalkeeping but my favourite is still Andre as you will know!”

Bayindir could be in line to finally make his United debut in the trip to Goodison Park to face Everton, with Onana a doubt. The 27-year-old was forced off during Cameroon&aposs win over Mauritius on Friday and will miss this evening&aposs game against Libya.
