United face the Turkish heavyweights in their penultimate group game at Rams Park, knowing that anything less than a victory could spell the end of their hopes of progressing to the last-16. United are currently bottom of Group A after just one win from their opening four matches.
Erik ten Hag&aposs side, who recorded their biggest Premier League win of the season on Sunday, beating Everton 3-0 at Goodison Park, were beaten 3-2 by Galatasaray in the reverse fixture at Old Trafford last month. The Reds, however, have since found a better level of form, meaning they will be confident of inflicting revenge on the Turkish outfit.
However, though Rasmus Hojlund is poised to make a return after missing the trip to Everton with a muscle problem, Ten Hag will be without midfield trio Christian Eriksen, Mason Mount and Casemiro once again. The trio are all currently sidelined with injury concerns.
With United&aposs midfield department looking lighter than Ten Hag would like it to, it is possible he could call upon some of the club&aposs younger players to step in and assist – and that is what happened in Tuesday&aposs open training session. Youngster Jack Fletcher was spotted training within the main group, giving him valuable experience.
Fletcher, who is the son of United technical director and former midfielder Darren, joined the Reds in the summer from Manchester City, alongside twin brother Tyler. The club signed the duo for a combined fee of 1.25million.
The midfielder, who will turn 17 in March, has made one appearance for United&aposs Under-18s so far this season, scoring and grabbing an assist in their 6-0 win over Leeds United in the Under-18s Premier League last month. He also scored for England&aposs Under-18s in their 8-0 win over the Faroe Islands in their opening game of their 2023-24 UEFA European Under-17 Championship qualifying campaign.
