News From Germany: Total agreement between Leeds United and Hoffenheim for Georginio Rutter

Sky Germany’s Florian Plettenberg reports this evening that Leeds United and Hoffenheim have reached a total agreement for the transfer of French forward Georginio Rutter.

The total fee is expected to reach around €40m, and was agreed after lengthy negotiations on Tuesday. Rutter is expected to sign a contract until 2028 whilst the official announcements are being prepared.

Leeds United’s interest in Rutter emerged on Saturday and they’ve moved quick to secure the French attacker from Sinsheim. TSG will receive a considerable return on the €750k they paid Rennes in 2021 to sign Rutter.

Since his move to Germany, Rutter has scored 11 and created eight in 64 games across all competitions for Hoffenheim, and is one of the Bundesliga most exciting attacking prospects.

This season, Rutter has featured in each of Hoffenheim’s 15 Bundesliga games, starting 11 under André Breitenreiter, scoring twice.

Rutter’s move comes after Hoffenheim earlier confirmed that the Frenchman would miss training and their friendly against Servette due to “rumours circulating of a move to the Premier League.”
