Latest Football News From Manchester: Brighton’s stance on Marc Cucurella unchanged despite request and other Man City transfer rumours

Manchester City have been very active in the summer window and have already brought in four fresh faces to supplement their already star-studded squad. Erling Haaland is the standout name, but the arrivals of Julian Alvarez and Kalvin Phillips are also exciting Blues supporters.

With competition for places fierce, the likes of Raheem Sterling and Gabriel Jesus have moved on in search of regular first-team football. Oleksandr Zinchenko also completed his switch to Arsenal last week, meaning City's pursuit of a natural left-back replacement stepped up another notch.

Earlier this morning, it was reported by multiple outlets that Marc Cucurella – City's long-term full-back target – had handed in a transfer request at the AMEX Stadium.

The two sides have been haggling over a price for weeks and the threat of City walking away and focusing on other options has prompted the Spaniard into action. However, according to the Athletic, this has not changed the Seagulls' transfer stance this summer.

Brighton value Cucurella at 50million and will not budge on their valuation. It's reported that City started negotiations at 30m, but were willing to go up to 40m.

Elsewhere, when Nathan Ak was heavily linked with Chelsea earlier this summer, it's been claimed that City were considering the signing of Barcelona-bound centre-back, Jules Kounde.

The current Sevilla star was said to be on the Blues' radar in the past. However, with Thomas Tuchel's side unable to meet City's valuation of Ak, the Dutchman is set to stay and play a big part of the upcoming season.
