McCarthy breaks the internet with Premier League move

Bafana Bafana football icon Benni McCarthy was recently unveiled as the new striker’s coach for English giants Manchester United, with the news making waves in South Africa.

After spells with Cape Town Spurs and AmaZulu in the PSL, McCarthy recently took a giant step in his coaching career by joining one of the biggest clubs in world football.

The new look Red Devils outfit will have McCarthy as their new striker’s coach, with the club confirming the news on Saturday, July 30.

“The ex-forward will specialise in coaching attacking plays and positioning,” United said on their official website.

“Ten Hag will work closely with assistants Mitchell van Der Gaag and Steve McClaren, with Benni slotting in alongside Eric Ramsay and Darren Fletcher.

“Former midfielder Fletcher also has a wider remit as a technical director, overseeing the path from Academy to the first team, plus players out on loan.

“Richard Harris and Craig Mawson are the goalkeeping coaches.

“Everybody would like to extend a warm welcome to Benni, upon join the club.”
