News From Manchester: Erik ten Hag has already revealed how Manchester United will fix one of their biggest problems

United finished with their lowest ever points tally in Premier League history and they suffered some humbling defeats along the way. One of the key factors contributing to this dismal finish was the number of defeats United suffered against sides below them in the table.

Crystal Palace, Brighton, Everton, Wolves, Watford and Leicester all took maximum points from games United would have at least expected to draw if not win. In the defeats to the likes of the Toffees and the Hornets, United were playing sides who were battling to avoid the drop.

It would seem that United had underestimated their opposition and were found out. However, when discussing how his team prepares for matches in 2019, Ten Hag was adamant that every opponent is treated with respect.

“We prepare our team thoroughly, on the basis of our own strengths,” Ten Hag said (via Planet Football). “We need to have respect for the opposition we take that into every match.

“That is how we do our work. We want to be confident on the pitch, but we cant be naive.”
