News From Manchester: Manchester United starting line-up and four goalscorers in 4-1 win vs Wrexham

United faced the National League side in a behind-closed-doors friendly match as the two teams looked to build their fitness levels ahead of their respective new campaigns.

Wrexham had originally believed they would be facing a team comprising of United youngsters, but were told Ten Hag wanted to use the occasion as an opportunity to give minutes to senior players lacking match sharpness.

It meant that young goalkeeper Matej Kovar played behind a back four that was comprised of summer signing Martinez, World Cup winner Raphael Varane and Brazil international Alex Telles. Ethan Laird also started.

Fellow summer signing Eriksen scored a free-kick on his first unofficial outing for the club, and youngster James Garner played the entirety of the match, with Zidane Iqbal also getting a lengthy runout.

The scores were level at half-time after Wrexham defender Aaron Hayden netted for the visitors, who brought two teams to the match and made wholesale changes at the break.

United netted three goals without reply in the second-half, with Telles, Garnacho and substitute Amad understood to be the scorers.

Argentine teenager Garnacho was getting his first minutes under new manager Ten Hag and started as part of a front three alongside fellow academy products Hannibal Mejbri and Tahith Chong.
