News From Manchester: MP Jim McMahon welcomes new Oldham Athletic owner following sale of club

The Latics announced on Thursday that former owner Abdallah Lemsagam had completed the sale, with the National League outfit also nearing an agreement to purchase Boundary Park from previous co-owner Simon Blitz.

Under Lemsagam, Oldham suffered two relegations and exited the Football League last season, which culminated in an on-field in-game protest on the final day. MP McMahon recognised the anguish supporters had felt in recent years and said the takeover should mark a turning point.

In a statement, he said: “After years of understandable frustration and angst amongst Latics fans today should mark a turning point in the journey of our towns football club.

Its been confirmed that Frank Rothwell is the new chairman of Oldham Athletic, and remember after rowing solo across the Atlantic at 70 years old, Frank is no stranger to a challenge!
