Barcelona transfer news and rumours today: Catalans propose Depay-Brozovic swap

THE KINGS takes a look at the latest transfer news and rumours involving Barcelona

As per the Telegraph, Barcelona have moved on from the possibility of signing Chelsea midfielder N’Golo Kanté and are now concentrating on Manchester City veteran İlkay Gündoğan.

Both midfielders are out of contract at the end of the season, however, the report states that Kanté is close to renewing with Chelsea which is why Barcelona are pursuing Gündoğan now.

According to Spanish publication MARCA, Barcelona has presented another swap deal to Inter involving Memphis Depay and Marcelo Brozovic.

Memphis Depay is the biggest candidate from the Spanish team destined to leave Camp Nou, and the Dutchman could be shipped to Italy in exchange for Brozovic.

The report suggests that Xavi has been impressed by Marcelo Brozovic in recent times and wants to bring him on board.

The Spanish manager has reportedly given the green light to the club to negotiate a deal with the Italian outfit in the upcoming days.

Barcelona are said to be leading the race to sign Velez’ rising star, Gianluca Prestianni, according to reports Sport.

The Catalan giants are set to pay €3 million to trigger the 16-year-old’s release clause and secure his signature ahead of the likes of Real Madrid.

Newcastle United is reportedly interested in signing Barcelona’s out-of-favor forward Memphis Depay, as reported by Football Insider. The English outfit has had an outstanding Premier League campaign sitting in third position.

And Eddie Howe’s team will look to bolster their forward battery with the arrival of Depay. The Catalan giants are yet to make a decision on the Dutch forward’s future but could let him depart if a viable offer arrives.

Spanish publication Mundo Deportivo has reported that Barcelona winger Raphinha has no interest in leaving the Spanish giants despite multiple rumors.

The Brazilian forward has been heavily linked to a switch back to the Premier League but the player’s entourage has brushed aside these rumors.

The news comes on the back of Barcelona’s iconic victory against arch-rivals Real Madrid in the Supercopa de Espana.

Despite receiving a great deal of interest from Premier League outfits Manchester United, rivals Atletico Madrid, and Serie A outfits Roma and Juventus, it seems that Depay could be heading to San Siro this month, with Inter Milan now in pole position to acquire the 27 year-old goalscorer.

That’s according to Spanish journalist and Barcelona expert Gerard Romero, who reveals both Inter and Barcelona have agreed on terms regarding a swap deal which includes both Memphis Depay and former Lazio striker Joaquin Correa swapping their respective sides.

The renowned jounalist reckons a deal is close and only needs the green light from the Dutchman to go through in the next hours.

Barca has offered an audacious swap to Inter including midfielders Franck Kessie and Marcelo Brozovic, according to Gianluca Dimarzio.

The French midfielder has failed to make an impact at Camp Nou since his arrival from Italy. The club is looking to sign Brozovic who showcased his talent against Xavi’s men in the group stages of the Champions League.

Spanish publication Sport has stated that Barcelona is now willing to listen to offers for 22-year-old defender Eric Garcia.

The Spanish center-back joined the Catalans from Manchester City and initially was a constant starter in Barca’s eleven.

But the emergence of Araujo, Kounde, and Christensen has pushed the young defender down the pecking order.

With the Catalan giants looking for desperate funds, the club could be intrigued to let go-off Garcia with Arsenal showing massive interest in the Spanish international.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has suggested that Dutch forward Memphis Depay could leave Barcelona in January itself.

The veteran striker has fallen down the pecking order at Barcelona with Atletico Madrid leading the race to sign Depay.

Although the two parties haven’t formulated a deal yet, negotiations are ongoing betwwen Barca and Los Rojiblancos.

According to the Daily Mail, Newcastle United have entered the race to sign Wolves midfielder Ruben Neves, who is a target for Catalan giants Barcelona. Barcelona have been linked with the midielder for a while now and will face stiff competition from the Magpies.

Spanish publication SPORT has reported that Barcelona are plotting a swap deal with Atletico Madrid including Memphis Depay and Yannick Carrasco.

Barcelona’s Dutch forward has fallen down the pecking order under Xavi and Diego Simeone has shown keen interest in signing Depay.

Now the report suggests that Barcelona want Los Rojiblancos’ Belgian forward Yannick Carrasco in return if they want to formulate a deal.

According to BILD (h/t MARCA), Barcelona is the front-runner to sign Benjamin Pavard from Bayern Munich.

The French defender has received massive interest from Barca’s arch-rivals Real Madrid, but the player prefers a switch to Camp Nou.

With Pavard’s contract in Germany expiring in 2024, the 26-year-old could be available at a slashed price for the Catalan giants in the upcoming summer window.

Considering the player’s interest in joining the club and Barcelona’s interest in acquiring him, a move could be materialized by both parties.

According to Spanish journalist Gerard Romero (h/t Barca Universal), Barcelona president Joan Laporta rejected Atletico Madrid’s exchange offer that included Thomas Lemar moving to the Camp Nou, with Memphis Depay moving the other way.

The Catalans want to part ways with the Dutch international only if a team is ready to offer cash for the player.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has reported that Atletico Madrid are ramping up their efforts to sign Memphis Depay from Barcelona.

Los Rojiblancos are on the hunt for a forward after the departures of Felix and Cunha, and the Dutch forward could be a useful addition.

According to Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona cannot sign former striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang from Chelsea even for free as he has already been registered for them and the Blues respectively this season.

As per the report, it is against the rules for a player to be allowed to play after a third registration, even if for their former club.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Barcelona will be able to resign former player Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang this month only if Memphis Depay leaves the club.

As per FIFA rules, the former Dortmund striker will not be able to play for any club other than Barcelona and Chelsea.

Barca love the idea of bringing Auba back, but that would be only possible if it’s a 100% free transfer and if Depay finds a new club.

“We are happy with the squad. In principle, there will be no changes. There has been no meeting,” Xavi stated.

“Depay? We do not know anything. We will see what happens. I told the board that I’d be happy if the squad remains as it is.”

However, the Catalans are likely to face competition from Serie A giants Juventus for his services.

What matters is the commitment he is showing in the games,” Crystal Palace manager Patrick Vieira said when asked about the 30-year-old’s future at the club.

Following Gerard Pique’s retirement in the middle of the season, Barcelona are left with Ronald Araujo, Jules Kounde, Andreas Christensen, and Eric Garcia as their central defenders for the rest of the season.

Barça boss Xavi reportedly wants a left-footed centre-half in his ranks to build from the back, and Ndicka fits the profile, especially with the Frenchman set to leave the reigning Europa League winners on a free transfer in the summer.

Barcelona are tired of waiting for Ansu Fati to find his footing at Camp Nou and could explore a loan of the talented, according to reports in Fichajes. The 20-year-old has struggled with injuries after taking up the #10 shirt following Messi and showing incredible promise.

The winger has made six goal involvements in La Liga this season.

Barcelona’s manager Xavi Hernandez has revealed that he’s not ready to let go off Frenkie De Jong in the upcoming transfer window, according to the SUN.

Spanish publication Relevo has reported that former Barcelona player Gerard Pique could come out of return to play for his own club FC Andorra.

According to Fichajes, Tottenham Hotspurs are preparing to submit an official bid for Barcelona’s Ferran Torres.

The Spanish forward has fallen down the pecking order at Barcelona owing to their star-studded forward battery.

And the Spanish heavyweights could sell Torres to bring some cash in the club. Tottenham are looking to shell-out €35m for the young forward but Barcelona’s current asking price sits at €50m.

According to El Nacional, Barcelona are hoping midfielder Frenkie de Jong convinces his compatriot, Inter Milan fullback Denzel Dumfries to join them.

Barcelona are looking to strengthen their right-back position, with Héctor Bellerín likely to leave the club. Dumfries is seen as the ideal candidate to do so after his performances at the World Cup.

According to Spanish publication SPORT, Barcelona is once again targeting Euro 2020 winner Jorginho from Chelsea.

The veteran midfielder is nearing the end of his contract at Stamford Bridge and could switch to a new destination.

With Xavi looking to replace Busquets with an experienced customer like the Spaniard, Jorginho could be an ideal signing for the Spanish heavyweights.

According to Fichajes, Barcelona are open to accepting any offer in the range of €50m for winger Ferran Torres in order to generate revenue following their Champions League group stage exit.

Despite signing for Barcelona last season for €55m Torres has gone down the pecking order and is looking for playing time, with interest from many European clubs.

Barcelona manager Xavi (via Fabrizio Romano) stated that veteran midfielder Sergio Busquets will remain at the club till the end of the season, and afterwards, it will be decided whether he renews or leaves as a free agent.

Balde’s contract will expire at the end of 2024, with Barcelona desperate to renew him. Chelsea will be looking to make most of this uncertainty to lure him to Stamford Bridge.

Barcelona could be looking to offload former AC Milan midfielder, Franck Kessie, after signing him just six months ago. According to reports in Sport, Antonio Conte’s Spurs have made a bid for the midfielder.

Spurs will face an uphill battle to sign the player as the player is seemingly happy with life in Barcelona.

According to a report from Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona want to sign Kylian Mbappe from Paris Saint-Germain.

Mbappe is frustrated at Paris Saint-Germain, especially after it was confirmed that Lionel Messi would be renewing with PSG, having lost to Messi’s Argentina in the World Cup final.

Until now, it seemed like Mbappe’s end goal was to play for Real Madrid. However, the hate received in comment sections of social media and from some Madrid-supporting journalists such as Tomas Roncero, in addition to the presence of Karim Benzema in the dressing room, has apparently changed Mbappe’s mind.

Borussia Dortmund striker Youssofa Moukoko is viewed as a real market opportunity by many top European clubs. The teenage striker is in the final year of his contract with the Bundesliga outfit and has recently rejected BVB’s contract renewal offer worth €5 million amidst heavy outside interest.

The 18-year-old is being coveted by several clubs, including the likes of Chelsea and Manchester United. But according to SPORT, the prodigy has made it a priority to secure a transfer to Camp Nou.

Barcelona had initially planned to renew only Marcos Alonso and Alejandro Balde’s contracts, with veteran Sergi Roberto, who has stuggled for form and fitness in recent times, set to leave Camp Nou free at the end of the season.

However, Mundo Deportivo claims coach Xavi has asked Barcelona to renew his contract as an ‘absolute priority’.

The board are prepared to meet the coach’s request, and have added Roberto to the list of players they want to retain and hand new deals in the coming months.

The report states that Torres no longer wants to be second fiddle at the club, and manager Xavi’s priority of keeping Ansu Fati may facilitate his decision to leave.

Kante’s contract at Chelsea ends next season and the Spanish heavyweights will look to sign him for free considering their financial issues.

As per Spanish media outlet Mundo Deportivo, Sergio Busquets had made a decision on his future at Barcelona.

Since the last transfer window, Barcelona have been looking to offload the Dutch midfielder to make up revenue and space for new players. Again in the upcoming window De Jong has been linked with an exit, however, he wants to stay put.

According to El Nacional, Barcelona will be keeping a track of AC Milan star Rafael Leão’s performances during the upcoming Qatar World Cup.

Leão has impressed many with his performances in the last two seasons. He won Serie A’s MVP award last campaign and led AC Milan to their first league title in 11 years.

With his contract expiring in 2024 and no indication of a renewal so far, many clubs are looking to sign him for a bargain next summer. It seems Barcelona will also join the race for the Portuguese starlet.

According to El Nacional, Borussia Dortmund right-back Thomas Meunier is one of the potential candidates identified by Barcelona to reinforce their defence in the winter.

Barcelona have been interested in the 31-year-old right-back since the last transfer window but didn’t push for his signing after Héctor Bellerín joined the club. Since his contract expires in 2024, they would have to pay a low fee of €6m to bring him to the Camp Nou.

Barcelona are reportedly on the brink of reaching an agreement with 19-year-old Spanish prodigy Alejandro Balde over a new deal.

According to a report by Spanish publication SPORT, following the latest round of meetings and negotiations, there is a cofident feeling that the two parties are closer to agreeing to terms over a bumper new contract for breakout star Balde.

The 19-year-old full-back will likely sign a long-term contract that will contain a €500 million release clause.

Balde’s current contract expires in 2024, and the Blaugrana are intent on getting him tied down to improved terms sooner rather than later after the teenager was called up to the Spanish national team for the FIFA World Cup as a injury replacement for Jose Gaya.

As per Fichajes, Barcelona are considering signing Sporting Lisbon right-back Pedro Porro in the upcoming winter transfer window.

It is unknown whether full-backs Sergio Roberto and Héctor Bellerín will still be in Barcelona next season, therefore the Catalans are looking to sign Porro to reinforce their defence. However, they will reportedly face competition from rivals Real Madrid and Tottenham Hotspur.

As per El Nacional, Barcelona are looking to insert Frenkie de Jong into their deal to sign Manchester City midfielder Bernardo Silva.

Barcelona have been eyeing a move for Silva since the last transfer window, however, City’s asking price of €80m is proving to be too high for the Catalans.

To make up for this, Barcelona are planning to use De Jong as a part of the deal. De Jong refused many offers for him to leave Camp Nou in the summer, however, the report claims that playing under Pep Guardiola at City does entice him.

Barcelona manager Xavi does see De Jong as a part of his plans, but may have to let go of him to secure Silva’s signing.

Barcelona manager Xavi Hernández is not interested in signing Wolves midfielder Rúben Neves, according to El Nacional.

As per the report, Xavi doesn’t think Neves is ideal for Barcelona’s current 4-3-3 setup. He does however feel the Portuguese midfielder would be ideal in a two-man pivot but doesn’t feel that the club’s tactics should change to accommodate him.

Barcelona have opened the doors for Memphis Depay to leave in January. According to reports from the AS, Barcelona will listen to offers for the Dutch forward and accept should an interesting one arrives.

Depay has dropped down in pecking order this season under Xavi.

According to SPORT, Barcelona is considering Josko Gvardiol as a replacement for veteran defender Gerard Pique. The Spanish centre-back hung his boots in the middle of the season and now the Catalans are monitoring a catalogue of defenders as his possible replacements.

The Croatian centre-back has also received interests from England but the Spanish heavyweights would be hoping to get his signature before he is targeted by other clubs.

Barcelona are interested in Arsenal’s 19-year-old midfield prodigy Charlie Patino, who is now on loan at Blackpool in the Championship, according to Calciomercato.it.

The Catalans hope to buy the teenager during the 2023 summer transfer window in order to bolster the midfield, which will lose Sergio Busquets and perhaps Franck Kessié.

Barcelona president Joan Laporta has confirmed that the club won’t be able to sign players in January due to La Liga’s Financial Fair Play regulations.

Amid interest from Roma, who desperately want to sign a new right-back, Héctor Bellerín wants to stay at Barcelona. This comes from a report by SPORT.

The Spanish right-back wants to continue at Camp Nou till the end of the season, after which he will make a decision on his future that seems to be full of uncertainty.

As per El Nacional, PSG star Lionel Messi’s only condition for returning to former club Barcelona next season is that Xavi Hernández should remain the club’s manager.

Reportedly the two former teammates have been in constant communication with one another and Messi will only play at Barca again under Xavi.

Xavi has had a good start to the season in the league, with his side on top of the table heading into the World Cup break. However, the early exit from the Champions League has put him under some pressure.

Barcelona president Joan Laporta will have to keep Xavi, irrespective of how the season ends if he wishes to see Messi at Camp Nou again.

Barcelona’s veteran midfielder and one of the all time greats, Sergio Busquets, is at the twilight of his career. His Barcelona contract is up in the summer.

According to Ekrem Konur, the Spaniard is drawing interest from Saudi Arabia. Two clubs are reportedly interested in the defensive midfielder, however the midfielder prefers a move to the MLS.

According to Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona want to exchange Franck Kessié with Aston Villa midfielder Douglas Luiz in the winter transfer window.

Kessié’s performances since joining in the summer have not met Barcelona’s expectations and the Catalans are willing to offload him 6 months later.

They see Luiz as the ideal candidate to strengthen their midfield, and hope to swap him with Kessié, without having to spend any money on a transfer fees.

West Ham United are interested in bringing Barcelona left-back Jordi Alba to the Premier League in the winter transfer window, reports Fichajes.

West Ham’s performances have fallen down considerably from the previous two seasons, with the club 16th on the table heading into the World Cup break.

They see Alba as the ideal candidate to improve their backline and instil leadership in the squad. The report states that West Ham are pondering bringing him on loan or permanently.

According to Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona will shift to Youri Tielemans if they fail to land Ilkay Gundogan to Camp Nou next summer. The German midfielder’s contract in England ends in 2023, and Xavi is hoping to get him either at a discounted price in January or for free next season.

But if the Spanish giants fail to land Gundogan, they’ll raid Leicester City for the services of Youri Tielemans. The Belgian midfielder is currently being chased by Arsenal who is leading the race for his signature but Barcelona could hijack that deal.

According to Sport, Barcelona want to sell Sergiño Dest permanently at the end of the season, when his loan stint with AC Milan ends.

The Serie A champions do have the option to buy the player, though, so it remains to be seen where Dest ends up ahead of the next season.

According to Sport, Barcelona are planning on making just one signing in the January transfer window.

The club wants to reinforce the right-back position, with Diogo Dalot, Juan Foyth, and Benjamin Pavard on Blaugrana’s shortlist.

Barcelona midfielder Franck Kessié could make a shocking exit from the Camp Nou in January after reports from Sport suggest that Aston Villa and Fulham are interested in the player.

The Catalans would be open to sell Kessié – who arrived for free in the summer – given their precarious financial condition, with Aston Villa ready to offer €14 million and Fulham ready to offer €22 million for the 25-year-old.

Kessié found himself on the periphery under Xavi before suffering an injury in a Champions League game against Viktoria Plzen.

Jordi Alba has committed his future to Barcelona, dismissing claims that the player received offers from Inter or any other club.

“I’ve never received any proposal from Inter or any other club. I always wanted to stay at Barça,” Alba told Mundo Deportivo.

“I want to stay and retire here. But I’ll be the first person to leave the day I believe I no longer have the quality that this club needs.”

According to a report from Mundo Deportivo, İlkay Gündoğan is reportedly on Barcelona’s radar for the upcoming winter transfer window.

The Catalans want to add depth to their midfield for the second half of the season, and believe the Manchester City man to be a versatile midfielder who can play in both a single-pivot role and as an interior in a midfield three.

It is, however, unlikely that Pep Guardiola and the Cityzens would let such a move materialize.

Barcelona president Joan Laporta discussed the return of Lionel Messi to the Camp Nou, stating that the club will always be his home.

“Messi knows that at Barça, he’ll be at home. But I don’t want to talk about Leo because he plays for PSG,” Laporta told Sport.

“I’ll only say that he’s the best player in the history of Barcelona.”

The Argentine’s contract with PSG expires at the end of the season, with a lot of speculation suggesting that the Barcelona legend might make a sensational return to the club where he won it all.

Xavi Hernandez has made a list of a few players who he’ll be closely monitoring at the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar, according to El Nacional. One of these players is Canadian forward Jonathan David, whom Xavi wants to bring to Camp Nou.

The Lille striker has been circled around by some of the biggest European outfits and Barcelona will hope to get him to Spain.

Another factor is that Robert Lewandowski is leading the Barcelona attack without any competition and youngsters like David would give him tough competition for the striker spot in Xavi’s eleven.

Journalist Jose Alvarez has claimed on El Chiringuito TV that Barcelona is planning to hunt another player from Girona’s ship. The Catalan giants are aiming to bring Aleix Garcia to Camp Nou at the end of the season.

Barcelona will look to bolster their midfield next summer considering Busquets is leaving and Kessie hasn’t performed according to expectations.

The Girona midfielder is a strong figure in the middle of the park and could help the Spanish heavyweights knowing his contract expires in 2023.

Journalist Albert Roge has reported that Barcelona’s young starlet Alex Collado could return to his parent club in the January transfer window after spending a poor loan spell at Elche.

The Spanish youngster has failed to make an impression and has been starved of minutes playing for Elche. But with his contract expiring in 2024 and him not being in Xavi’s future plans, Collado could be shipped to some other club for extra cash.

As per El Nacional, Barcelona manager Xavi Hernández is keen on signing in-form Newcastle United midfielder Bruno Guimarães to strengthen Barcelona’s midfield core.

Xavi will reportedly be monitoring how Guimarães performs in the World Cup and depending on how well the Brazilian midfielder does, will ask Barcelona to go all out for him.

Spanish publication Mundo Deportivo have reported that Barcelona are eyeing Villareal’s centre-back Jorge Cuenca. The Catalans are looking to rebuild their backline after multiple injuries and Cuenca could be a useful asset for them. Spanish publication Fichajes have reported that FC Barcelona are keeping close tabs on Manchester United’s 18-year-old prodigy Alejandro Garnacho. The young Argentine wonderkid has earned applause after dropping some magnificent performances for Manchester United’s youth and first teams.

Barcelona can sign Garnacho considering Depay and Fati are pushing for a move away from the club and Ferran Torres has fallen down the pecking order under Xavi. With Garnacho’s contract in Manchester expiring in 2023, FC Barcelona could start negotiations with him in January to convinve him to come to Spain.

According to TEAMtalk, FC Barcelona are closely monitoring the situation of Mikel Arteta at Arsenal. The Spanish coach has converted the Gunners’ side into a fantastic outfit making them reach the pinnacle of the Premier League table.

With Xavi constantly failing in the Champions League, Barcelona could bring Mikel Arteta onboard to replace the former midfielder.

The Catalans could receive stiff competition from Areteta’s former club Manchester City as the English outfit are still hunting for Pep Guardiola’s successor if he decides to leave.

Barcelona might not sign a new centre-back after all, thanks to Marcos Alonso’s convincing performances as a makeshift centre-back.

The Catalans were on the hunt for a new defender following Gerard Piqué’s mid-season retirement, but will now continue to place their faith on the summer signing from Chelsea to get the job done, according to Mundo Deportivo.

According to Fichajes, Borussia Dortmund prodigy Youssoufa Moukoko has demanded €7m-a-year from the clubs chasing his signature.

Xavi’s Barcelona are one of the clubs chasing the prolific young goalscorer. The Catalans did sign Robert Lewandowski this summer but Moukoko could be seen as a long-term option for the Spanish giants.

Fichajes has reported that AS Roma have identified Hector Bellerin as a transfer target next summer. Jose Mourinho’s side, although in 7th place in the table, are just one point below Juventus, who complete the Serie A top four.

Bellerin, who has failed to constantly feature in Barcelona’s starting XI, could switch to Roma in search of minutes. The Spaniard’s contract expires at the end of the season.

According to Spanish publication SPORT, FC Barcelona are closely monitoring the development of Almeria’s young defender Kaiky Fernandez. The Spanish giants were close to sealing a deal with the Brazilian but pulled out, with Kaiky signing for Almeria instead.

Although Almeria are currently blocking the deal, the Spanish outfit are trying their best to convince the 18-year-old to make the move to Camp Nou, with Xavi reported to be heavily involved in the behind-the-scene operations.

Todo Fichajes reports that Barcelona’s young striker Ansu Fati is on the verge of leaving the Spanish outfit. The successor of Lionel Messi’s number.10 jersey at Barcelona, the forward was destined for greatness. But constant injuries shrouded Fati’s tenure at Camp Nou as he has fallen down the pecking order under the leadership of Xavi. With the Catalan giants possessing multiple deadly poachers in front of goal, it looks like Fati’s stint in Spain could be coming to an end. The report suggests that Jorge Mendes has offered Fati to the likes of Bayern Munich and PSG.

The Basque defender has been heavily linked to a switch to Camp Nou and if the plan fails, they could switch their eyes to Laporte.

Barcelona’s Dutch forward Memphis Depay is growing frustrated at Barcelona and could be on his way out in the summer.

Sevilla are one of the teams that might be a potential destination for the Netherlands international, according to Fichajes.

Inigo Martinez is considered the successor of Gerard Pique at Camp Nou with the latter recently hanging up his boots. The Spanish veteran’s contract with the Basques expires in 2023 and Xavi wants to bring him to Barcelona to bolster his backline.

“I am happy here, I am very comfortable. Let’s say that my future is not at all clear, but this is not the time or the place to be able to talk about the subject of my renewal. All this can lead you to confusion. I avoid any topic of this type, ”he stated.

Barcelona are looking for reinforcements in the right back position and have identified Lyon’s 19-year-old, Malo Gusto. According the Fichajes, the French right-back is on the short list for right back position. Gusto has featured 13 times for Lyon this season and has grabbed one assist as well.

Other candidates on the list are Diego Dalot, Juan Foyth and Arnau Martinez.

Owing to his good performances from the left-back spot and giving veteran Jordi Alba a run for his money as his backup, Barcelona are confident about extending Alejandro Balde’s contract, reports Fabrizio Romano.

The player is admired by both Xavi and the board as he is someone who’s considered to be important to both the present and future of the club.

According to a report by Spanish outlet Fichajes, AC Milan are said to be interested in acquiring emerging Spanish full-back prospect Alejandro Balde from Barcelona in 2023.

The reigning Serie A champions are keeping a close eye on his position at FC Barcelona. And if he does not sign a new contract with the Catalan club, the Rossoneri will launch a pursuit for the 19-year-old rising star.

Alejandro Balde has long been regarded as one of Spain’s most promising full-backs during his years at Barcelona’s famed La Masia academy, and is enjoying a breakout campaign under Xavi, but has just two years to run on his current Camp Nou deal.

Barcelona have been handed a boost in their quest to sign Borussia Dortmund’s in-demand striker Youssoufa Moukoka, with the youngster stalling signing a new deal, as per Sport Bild.

Dortmund have already tabled a contract offer ready for the young striker to sign for some time now. This new deal would see the 17-year-old’s salary bump to €5m per year, but the German youth international has been reluctant in putting pen to paper.

Catalan boss Xavi is interested in bringing Girona defender Arnau Martinez to Camp Nou as he looks to improve right-back options at his disposal, according to Diario Sport.

Sergi Roberto is sidelined for the foreseeable future due to a long-term injury, leaving Hector Bellerin as the club’s only natural option for the position.

The problem that could arise for the Catalan side is that he is under contract until June 2025. Girona’s asking price is believed to be around €20 million. It remains to be seen whether Barca can afford the signing despite their current financial woes.

Todo Fichajes has reported that Barcelona might back out from signing Jorginho next summer. The Italian midfielder has been heavily linked to a move to Spain but his high wages might force Barcelona to look for other options.

According to SPORT, Barcelona have reportedly made efforts to place themselves at front of the long queue to sign young Borussia Dortmund star Youssoufa Moukoko.

The Blaugrana view the Dortmund prodigy as the eventual replacement for 34-year-old talisman Robert Lewandowski, but will have to fend off competition from European rivals Juventus, Real Madrid and Liverpool to be able to bring in the 17-year-old.

The teenage forward has started this campaign in brilliant form in the Bundesliga side’s first-team, scoring six goals and four in 12 Bundesliga games.

According to Fichajes, Barcelona is eyeing three key defenders as Gerard Pique’s replacement. The Spanish veteran retired from football after playing his last game for the Catalans. The Spanish giants are closely monitoring Josko Gvardiol from RB Leipzig as Pique’s replacement. The young Croatian defender has impressed elites across Europe with his outstanding performances and is being closely watched by Chelsea as well.

According to AS, Barcelona are reportedly prepared to launch the offensive for Las Palmas wonderkid Alberto Moleiro in January, who is also the subject of interest from Real Madrid, Borussia Dortmund and Liverpool.

Moleiro, 19, has a €30m buyout clause at Las Palmas until 2026, but this cost will double if the Segunda División club gets promoted back to the Spanish top flight this term.

This is not for the first time Barca have been linked to the highly-rated midfielder. The Catalans failed to secure his signature last summer owing to their financial woes, and plan to revive their interest in the Las Palmas youth product in January, with the intention of loaning him back until the end of the season.

According to El Nacional, Napoli are pursuing left back Jordi Alba, who could be on his way out of Barcelona in the January transfer window.

Alba, 33, has battled for regular playing time under coach Xavi, featuring in only 648 minutes of La Liga and Champions League action. Alba is one of the highest-paid players at Barcelona, and the club is looking to make free up space on the wage bill in the coming months.

Barcelona have joined the race for soon-to-be-free-agent Wilfried Zaha and will compete with Premier League sides Arsenal and Chelsea for the Ivorian international.

That’s according to the Evening Standard, which claims the Blaugrana reckon the 29-year-old as a good fit for their attack owing to his pace, power, directness, and finishing.

Zaha, 29, will be out-of-contract at the end of the season, with foreign clubs able to negotiate a pre-contract as early as this upcoming January.

According to Diario Sport, Barcelona will renew their pursuit of Manchester City star Bernardo Silva in January courtesy of Gerard Pique’s abrupt retirement.

The Catalans are expected to make a lot of additions in January all across the board, and manager Xavi Hernandez is said to consider Silva as a key component of his long-term vision at the Camp Nou.

The Spanish giants were strongly linked with the Portugal international throughout this past summer window, and they are now apparently optimistic that they have the finances to complete a move thanks to Pique’s impending retirement, which will free up room on their wage bill for a big-money, high-profile superstar signing.

Silva, 28, is still eager to join Camp Nou but City are reluctant to let him leave.

Following Gerard Piqué’s announcement regarding his retirement, Xavi has confirmed that Barcelona will sign a centre-back in January, with Iñigo Martínez among the shortlisted players according to Fabrizio Romano.

“We will go for a centre back in January, it will be a priority as Piqué has decided to leave.”

Gerard Piqué announced his retirement from football on Thursday night, with the 35-year-old set to leave Barcelona mid-season. Now, the Catalans are working to terminate the centre-back’s contract.

PSG’s 17-year-old academy prospect Ilyes Housni has caught the eyes of those at Barcelona, according to Le 10 Sport.

The centre-forward has scored eight goals and registered two assists in the ongoing UEFA Youth League, helping Les Parisiens to qualify for the Round of 16.

Housni’s contract is set to expire on June 30, 2023, and PSG are in talks with his representatives to strike a new deal. The Blaugrana, however, are magnetised by the player’s potential and will go all hands on deck to acquire Housni.

According to Evening Standard, Barcelona would like to explore the possibility of signing Crystal Palace’s Wilfried Zaha ahead of the next season.

The Catalans already ahead Raphinha and Robert Lewandowski to the attack last season, so it’s unsure how Zaha would fit in. Regardless, he would a steal for any team given he’ll be signed for free after the expiration of his contract.

Despite signing a new long-term contract until 2027 with his Basque club, Martin Zubimendi remains Xavi Hernandez’s first-choice Sergio Busquets replacement.

Zubimendi’s contract includes a €90m (£78.5m) release clause, however, according to Sport, Barcelona are still determined to bring him to Camp Nou during next summer’s transfer window.

With Jorginho pressing for a new deal at Chelsea, Barcelona are looking at alternative midfield options, and Xavi reckons the Real Sociedad midfielder’s profile strongly matches for the Busquets role. However, the 23-year-old’s astronomical buyout clause could be a sticking point given Barca’s ongoing financial woes.

Barcelona are already making moves in the market to replace Gerard Pique after the legendary defender announced his impending retirement by unexpectedly on Thursday.

Inigo Martinez is the main candidate to succeed Piqué in mid-2023 and according to Diario Sport, they will sign the soon-to-be-out-of-contract Athletic Bilbao centre-back on the 1st of July next year.

The report adds that Barcelona have a deal in place with Martinez, who was subject of interest this summer, to sign a deal when his contract expires next summer, with the 31-year-old looking for a change of scenery.

Barcelona and Spanish legend Gerard Piqué has announced that he’ll be leaving FC Barcelona mid-season and retiring.

The player posted a video on his social media where he said that Barcelona’s game against Almeria at the Camp Nou on Sunday would be his last.

Barcelona right-back Héctor Bellerín, whose contracts expires at the end of the season, has expressed his desire to continue at the Camp Nou.

“I want to sign a new deal as I want to stay here at Barça, I’m really happy”, the 27-year-old told Catalunya Radio (via @FabrizioRomano).

“Projects take time, it’s normal in football. We trust Xavi, 100%”.

According to Sport, Barcelona want Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta to be the next manager to take over the reigns at the Camp Nou.

Barcelona are reportedly considering Mikel Arteta as their next boss 👀🇪🇸

Barcelona have been interested in bringing back their academy graduate and current RB Leipzig star, Dani Olmo, to Camp Nou. They have tried multiple times in the previous windows to secure the move but failed due to economic reasons.

According to Sport, Barcelona are considering making a move for the Bayern Munich’s wantaway full-back Benjamin Pavard, whose contract with Bayern Munich expires in 2024.

Frenkie de Jong has reportedly decided against a move away from Barcelona midway through the season despite strong interest from the likes of Manchester United, Liverpool, and Chelsea, according to Diario Sport.

The Spanish outlet claim De Jong no intentions of leaving Barcelona at the turn of the year, and has ruled out a mid-season move.

The report adds that the 25-year-old playmaker is ‘clear and firm’ in his stance on his Barça future, which comes as a huge blow to long-term admirers Man United and other suitors.

Barcelona are looking forward to offload some players in the upcoming winter transfer market and Memphis Depay could be on the list of players on their way out.

According to reports from the Sport, Juventus were keen on bringing the Dutch forward to Turin in the summer but couldn’t match his salary demands but now they can and are looking to secure his signature before a bidding war begins.

Barcelona continue looking at options to add depth to their squad and give Xavi more options. The Blaugranas are reportedly keen on signing Villarreal’s 21-year-old winger, Nicolas Jackson, whose contract ends on June 30th, according to reports by Mundo Deportivo.

Newcastle United are ready to bid €50m for Barcelona goalkeeper Marc-André ter Stegen to lure him away from Camp Nou, reports El Nacional.

Furthermore, the report states that the Magpies are also willing to offer Ter Stegen a blank cheque. Barcelona won’t let go of him easily, however, with their knockout from the Champions League, they need revenues to stabilise the club and Ter Stegen’s sale could help.

According to the Daily Star, Barcelona are ready to splash money on signing Newcastle United’s midfield general Bruno Guimarães in the winter transfer window.

The Brazilian has been brilliant for the Magpies ever since making the switch from Lyon last season, and has received interest from many top clubs across Europe.

Rated at £60 million, the Catalans will hope to offload Frenkie de Jong in January for a sizable fee, which would help them spend the money on the signing of Guimarães without much hassle.

Spanish outlet Sport has reported that FC Barcelona is aiming to bring their poster boy, Lionel Messi, back to Camp Nou in January instead of next summer. The Argentine had recently been linked heavily to the club where he spent more than a decade of his playing career after switching ships to PSG two seasons ago. But after FC Barcelona has been pushed to the UEFA Europa League for the second season running, Xavi wants Messi to return to Spain in January and help the Catalans reach glory again

Sport has reported that Chelsea’s veteran midfielder Jorginho could hear offers from FC Barcelona as early as January. Despite pressuring the North London outfit for a contract extension, Jorginho could be prepared to switch ships to Spain if Chelsea does not offer him a pay rise. Xavi would be hopeful to get Jorginho’s services considering he could perfectly replace Sergio Busquets in the starting eleven.

Barca’s financial problems continue as the Catalan outfit faces another expense in their hunt for silverware. The club would have to pay Robert Lewandowski’s former club €1.25m every time the Polish striker touches the 25 goals tally in a season, reports BILD. After 16 games this summer, the Polish striker has touched double digits taking his goal-scoring tally to 17 and Joan Laporta has to be prepared to pay the upcoming amount.

According to Albert Rogé and Toni Juanmartí of Relevo, Barcelona’s sports management and coaching staff have found the player to replace Sergio Busquets: N’Golo Kanté.

Even though Busquets’ contract expires in June 2023, the club believes that the 34-year-old’s time is up at the Camp Nou and that he should be offloaded at the end of the current season.

As such, the Blaugrana are exploring the market for the best players to replace Busquets, and have reportedly narrowed the list down to just one player, which is Kanté.

According to Joaquim Piera of Sport, Barcelona haven’t given up on their desire to sign Brazilian sensation Endrick, who has been the centre of a lot of transfer rumours recently.

Teams like PSG and Real Madrid are serious in their ambition to sign the 16-year-old, but Piera reports that the communication between Palmeiras and Barcelona remains fluid.

However, it will be tough for the Catalans as the player can’t represent any European team before 2024 and it would be unlikely that they trigger Endrick’s €60 milliion release clause anytime soon, given their financial constraints.

According to Fichajes, Barcelona are looking to sign RB Leipzig midfielder Dani Olmo to reinforce their attacking strength in January.

Olmo is reportedly favoured by Barcelona manager Xavi, and currently is not pleased with his involvement in RB Leipzig’s games, therefore he may be reconsidering his future.

As per the report, Barcelona are hoping Olmo’s time in their academy is enough to give them an advantage over other clubs trying to sign him.

According to Fichajes, PSV midfielder Ibrahim Sangaré is seen by Barcelona as an alternative to Sergio Busquets in their midfield pivot.

Busquets’ contract expires next summer, and the noticeable drop in his recent performances indicates he won’t be renewed. Sangaré has impressed for PSV and would bring something new to Barcelona’s midfield particularly with his goalscoring prowess.

According to El Nacional, Barcelona have identified Lazio goalkeeper Luís Maximiano and Fiorentina goalkeeper, Alban Lafont, as options for the future in case Marc-André ter Stegen’s injury issues continue.

Despite Ter Stegen’s excellent start to the season, there are worries in Barcelona over his injury history, therefore the club wants to get adequate cover in the goalkeeping position.

Barcelona are looking at Ajax midfielder Edson Álvarez as an option to replace Sergio Busquets if he leaves next season, reports Sport.

Busquets’ performances have fallen massively this season with the Spanish midfielder set to end his 15-year-career at Barcelona and reportedly move to the MLS after his contract expires next summer.

Álvarez has impressed for Ajax in the last few seasons and was sought out by Chelsea, with the Blues narrowly missing out on him in the last transfer window.

Barcelona have been keeping an eye on Wolves and Portugal midfielder, Ruben Neves, for a while now. The Catalan giants are now said to be in advanced talks with Wolves for a January transfer, according to Sport. The Blaugranas are exploring a loan move with an obligation to buy for the 25-year-old.

Barcelona, among other teams, were interested in signing Inter Milan’s Argentine striker, Lautaro Martinez. The 25-year-old has expressed his desire to continue at Inter and dreams to become an all-time legend for the Nerazzurri, according to Fichajes.

Lautaro Martinez said in a recent interview, “I’ve been here for five years, I’m happy here at Inter, I really hope to become a club legend. I signed a new contract a year ago and I’m only focused on Inter.”

Barcelona will now look at alternatives, with names like Youssoufa Moukoko being considered as the successor Robert Lewandowski.

According to El Nacional, Barcelona are looking to sell summer signing Franck Kessié during the January transfer window.

Barcelona haven’t been impressed by Kessié so far, who has failed to adapt in his new club and is seen last in the midfield pecking order. Barca reportedly feel his wages are too high for his performances and look to let go of him.

His replacement would be La Masia product Nico González who is currently on loan in Valencia. The report states that González would immediately usurp Kessié in the midfield hierarchy once he returns, despite the difference in seniority.

Bellerin, 27, enjoyed a successful season-long loan at Real Betis last season, helping the Spanish club to Europa League qualification by finishing fifth in La Liga.

Betis were desperate to bring him back after his loan but were unable to afford his wages. Ultimately, Barcelona came calling and snapped him on a one-year deal on deadline day after his contract at Arsenal was terminated this summer.

However, according to Todo Fichajes, he is expected to return to Real Betis on a free transfer when his one-year deal with Barcelona expires.

The former Gunners man has recently discussed about his plans to return to Betis sometime in the future during a recent visit to La Liga club, and it seems he will get his wish sooner rather than later if Betis can sort out their finances, with Real Madrid’s Dani Ceballos also keen on making a romantic return to Estadio Benito Villamarín.

Barcelona are planning to sign Adrien Rabiot for free when the season ends, according to Calciomercato.it.

Xavi reportedly wants to strengthen his midfield with new additions, and Rabiot has emerged as one of the candidates to shore up Barca’s midfield.

The Frenchman will be a free agent at the end of the season, so it will be interesting to see what Rabiot decides to do with his future.

Barcelona are reportedly working to offload experienced quartet Jordi Alba, Gerard Pique, Sergi Roberto and Sergio Busquets next summer.

Busquets’ current contract is set to expire at the end of the season, and the seasoned midfielder is widely tipped to go leave a free transfer, with a host of MLS clubs apparently interested in signing him.

Meanwhile, Pique and Alba both have lost their starting spots this season, and there has been much conjecture about their futures at Camp Nou. Roberto only signed a one-year extension, and according to ESPN, Xavi’s side are working to shift all four veterans.

Barca are interested in making a move for young Borussia Dortmund striker Youssoufa Moukoko, as per Sport.

The 17-year-old German is widely regarded as one of the brightest attacking prospects in Germany.

In a conversation with Canal11 Barcelona’s transfer target Ruben Neves has directly addressed speculations linking him to Camp Nou. The Portuguese midfielder, who is seen as Busquets’ successor, exclaimed that everyone wants to play for the Catalans. For a long time, Neves has been one of the best midfielders playing outside the ‘Big-6’ in England and his big-money move looked inevitable. Neves’ contract at Molineux expires in 2024 and the chances of him signing another contract look minimal considering Barca’s interest in the 25-year-old.

Gerard Pique’s illustrious tenure at Barcelona is reportedly coming to an end. According to the Sport, Barca are convincing the 2010 World Cup Winner to depart from Camp Nou before his contract expires in 2024. Pique has fallen down the pecking order and was at fault for a goal against Inter Milan which could be a major reason for the club’s possible exit from the Champions League. The Spaniard had a harsh welcome at the Camp Nou as he was whistled in Barcelona’s win against Villareal.

Milan Škriniar, whose contract with Inter expires next summer, could be sold by Inter in the upcoming January transfer window to risk losing him for free.

According to Calciomercato, Barcelona could pounce on the opportunity to sign one of the best centre-backs of Europe, as Xavi would look for reinforcements. The Slovak would cost around €20-25 million.

Barcelona have identified Manchester United’s Diogo Dalot as a potential defensive reinforcement with his contract running down in the summer of 2023. According to reports by Mundo Deportivo, Manchester United will offer the Portuguese fullback a contract renewal post World Cup.

United also have an option to extend his current contract by a year in case an agreement isn’t reached. Barcelona are closely monitoring his situation and will look to make a move in the summer.

Barcelona’s long-time servant and captain Sergio Busquets is set to leave the club after 16 years with the club, according to Gabriel Sans, via reliable Barca journalist Reshad Rehman.

Busquets has been at the receiving end of a ton of criticism owing to his below-par on-field performances, especially against Real Madrid, Inter Milan, and Bayern Munich. The 34-year-old has had relentless backing of Xavi, but has failed to repay any faith.

The idea for the defensive midfielder, at the moment, is to leave the club at the end of the season, a club for which he has made 690 appearances so far and where he has spent his entire career.

The quest to find a successor to Sergio Busquets is underway at the Camp Nou, with Benfica’s Enzo Fernández on Barcelona’s radar to be the 34-year-old’s replacement.

According to Sport, the Argentinian defensive midfielder was reportedly on Barcelona’s shopping list in the summer of 2021, but did not invest in the player due to financial problems. Following brilliant performances in both Portugal and the UEFA Champions League, Enzo will now cost around €50 million,

Barcelona have been long admirers of the 28 year-old Man City midfielder, Bernardo Silva. After failing to complete a move in the summer, Barcelona are looking to secure the services of the Portuguese in January, according to Todofichajes.

The transfer is estimated to cost around €55 million plus add-ons with the midfielder said to have already agreed personal terms with the Catalan club.

Ousmanne Dembele is finally prepared to put pen to paper and commit his future to FC Barcelona.

The French striker was expected to leave the Spanish giants but he decided to stay to play at the club after he was given more freedom under new manager Xavi Hernandez. SPORT reports that although Barcelona and Dembele have finally reached a meeting point, the Catalan club has warned Dembele that he would be tossed to the transfer market if he delays or declines committing his future to the club.

FC Barcelona is looking to extend the contract of their backup keeper Inaki Peña. Relevo reports that numerous clubs are chasing Peña and the Blaugrana want to extend the shot-stopper’s stay at Camp Nou.

As per El Nacional, Spain manager Luis Enrique would be one of the top candidates to replace Barcelona manager Xavi Hernández in case the latter fails to get the club out of its current rut.

Enrique will no longer continue as the manager of Spain after the World Cup in November, and many clubs (including Barcelona) are reportedly keeping an eye on him.

Many players are already familiar with Enrique and his tactics, having played under him for Spain, which would make it easier for him to adapt at Barcelona during his second stint.

Andrey Santos, the Vasco Da Gama talent has attracted interest from Spanish giants FC Barcelona. Although Newcastle United had their eyes sight on Santos, Xavi and company are hatching a plan to snatch the Brazilian from the Magpies. According to 90min the youngsters’ release clause sits at 40m.

Barcelona has been given a huge blow in the Diogo Dalot saga as the Portuguese right-back has ruled out a switch to Camp Nou or any other club. FC Barcelona saw Dalot as the perfect replacement for their defensive problems. Dalot has become a constant starter for United after jumping over Wan-Bisaka in the pecking order.

According to a report by SPORT, Barcelona is eyeing Bayern Munich’s superstar Alphonso Davies. The Canadian is on the Spanish giants’ radar and could switch to Barcelona in the summer of 2023. The report also suggests that the Catalans could receive tough competition from Real Madrid who is also pursuing the 21-year-old’s signature.

Although Bayern Munich wouldn’t want to let go of their left-back if Davies pushes a move to Spain the story could be completely different.

Mundo Deportivo has reported that Barcelona currently has a verbal agreement with Athletic Club defender Inigo Martinez.

The veteran center-back has become the Catalans’ priority after the club has seen their back line being sidelined. Martinez could join Barcelona next summer on a free transfer.

According to a report by Italian outlet Calciomercatoweb, Barcelona are set to battle it out with arch-rivals Real Madrid in the race to sign Nicolo Barella from Inter Milan.

Barella, 25, has been a mainstay for Inter ever since his move from Cagliari, racking up nearly 148 appearances so far. The Italy international produced a decent tally of 15 goals and 38 assists during his time at San Siro. The report also adds that the Blaugrana are considering proposing Franck Kessie in a potential swap deal, which is surprising given the Ivorian joined the Spotify Camp Nou this past summer only.

It seems Barcelona are already planning their transfer strategy for 2023. Barça’s financial woes means that they will be unable to splurge the cash next summer, however they are eager to continue bringing in players on cheap deals.

Xavi Hernandez’s side will target players who are set to become free agents whereby they will only need to focus on wages in order to bring them to the Catalan club.

According to Mundo Deportivo, Barca have compiled a wish list of eight players who are set to become free agents at the end of the season.Chelsea midfielders N’Golo Kante and Jorginho, Spanish stars Marco Asensio and Inigo Martinez, Inter Milan defender Milan Skriniar among others, have all made it into the list.

Despite the long list of targets, Joan Laporta’s “dream” is to reunite with club legend Lionel Messi, who is at the “top of the list.”

Barcelona might get the opportunity to sign Joao Felix in 2023.

That’s according to a report by Spanish outlet Fichajes, which claims the Portuguese star’s agent Jorge Mendes has offered the wantaway Atletico Madrid midfielder to the Catalans in a recent meeting with club president Joan Laporta and sporting director Mateu Alemany.

Felix, 22, is increasingly frustrated with life at Wanda Metropolitano after being dropped from the starting XI in recent games and has reportedly requested to leave the Spanish capital in the upcoming January transfer window.

Barcelona have been handed a chance to sign Wolves midfielder, Ruben Neves. The Portuguese super-agent, Jorge Mendes, met with the Barça leadership to discuss various options and the 25-year-old Neves was one of the names mentioned, reports Mundo Deportivo.

Barcelona President Joan Laporta has indicated that the club will sign more players during the upcoming January transfer window.

Barcelona have a verbal agreement in place with Athletic Bilbao defender Inigo Martinez who will be a free agent next summer, as per Mundo Deportivo.

However, given that the Catalans have defensive concerns with injuries and loss of form of Gerard Pique, they could move for Inigo Martinez in the winter itself. They reportedly already have an agreement in principle with the 32-year-old.

Barcelona are set to sell Frenkie de Jong, as they look to raise more funds, as per Daily Mail.

An imminent exit from the Champions League group stages could force Barca to raise funds and the expected departures of Gerard Pique, Jordi Alba and Sergio Busquets might not bring in much in terms of transfer fees.

As a result, they are once again expected to force De Jong to leave the club.

Barcelona could join the race for wantaway Atletico Madrid forward Joao Felix, as per El Nacional.

Felix, who is reportedly looking to leave Wanda Metropolitano in the near future, has been heavily linked with PSG.

However, Barca are apparently looking to compete with PSG for the Portuguese as they fear Ousmane Dembele might end up leaving the club soon.

Barcelona are willing to offer Franck Kessié plus cash in order to sign Inter Milan midfielder Nicolò Barella, claims Calciomercatoweb.

Manager Xavi is reportedly disappointed with Kessié’s performances for Barcelona so far and is willing to sell him as a part of the deal for Barella, despite signing him this summer.

Barella is seen as the ideal midfielder for Barcelona’s playstyle, however, Inter Milan won’t let go of him easily.

Barcelona’s increasing likelihood of not making past the group stage in the Champions League could hamper their efforts to return Lionel Messi to Camp Nou, claims El Nacional.

The failure of not reaching the Champions League knockout stages would reportedly lead to Barcelona missing out on the revenue needed to sign Lionel Messi next year, even if on a free transfer.

Barcelona would further have to reduce their wage bill, which would make it impossible to sign new players on high salaries.

Alejandro Balde is fast establishing himself as the first-choice left-back at Barcelona, with Xavi preferring him over Jordi Alba and Marcos Alonso in key games.

SPORT have now reported that Joan Laporta has met with Balde’s agent, Jorge Mendes, in a bid to discuss extending his current contract which runs out in 2024.

According to Diario Sport, Frenkie de Jong is currently not happy about current situation at club and could consider leaving Camp Nou next summer.

The Netherlands international, 25, was embroiled in a protracted summer transfer saga with Manchester United, who identified him as their top target and were keen to get him from the Blaugrana.

De Jong elected to stay at Camp Nou as he assumed he would play a key role in Xavi’s new project, but that hasn’t happened.

The Catalan boss does not rely on the Dutch star for important matches, and the midfielder has grown frustrated with his present predicament, with Man Utd keeping the doors open for him to join Erik ten Hag’s project at Old Trafford.

FC Barcelona’s hopes of progressing through to the knockout stages of the UEFA Champions League suffered a big dent last night at Camp Nou, as they were held to a 3-3 draw by Inter Milan.

Škriniar’s contract with Inter Milan expires in June 2023, with Barcelona looking to sign him for free to reinforce their squad depth.

Barcelona have added Benfica midfielder Enzo Fernandez to the list of potential replacements for veteran Sergio Busquets following his flying start to the ongoing season, as per Sport.

The report adds Barça scouts were in attendance at the Parc des Princes to watch Benfica’s Enzo Fernandez in action during his side’s 1-1 draw against Paris Saint-Germain.

The youngster definitely left a positive impression on those in attendance, as he was named Man of the Match against PSG, demonstrating exactly why he has been hailed as one of the most sought-after complete midfielders across Europe.

Barcelona have been exploring the free agent markets and have identified five Premier League midfielders to bring to Spotify Camp Nou. Chelsea’s Jorginho and Kante, along with Youri Tielemans (Leicester), İlkay Gündoğan (Man City) and Naby Keita (Liverpool) are some of the name being discussed, reports Tuttomercato.

The Blaugranas have also held initial talks with Portuguese fullback, Diogo Dalot, and Athletic Club center-back, Íñigo Martínez.

Barcelona are reportedly in talks with Chelsea midfielder Jorginho for a transfer next summer, reports TuttomercatoWeb.

Jorginho’s agent Joao Santos was reportedly seen in Barcelona recently, which indicates that the Blaugrana could look to sign him once his contract with Chelsea expires in 2023.

For the entirety of the summer transfer window, Frenkie de Jong looked to be on his way out, with Manchester United reported to be in pole position to sign him.

The Red Devils had offered up to €85 million to acquire the services of the Dutch playmaker, including add-ons, and were subsequently joined in the transfer battle by Chelsea.

However, neither deal came to fruition, with rumours indicating that de Jong was only focused on succeeding at Barcelona.

Barça president Laporta on Frenkie de Jong: “We’ve received many bids from Premier League for Frenkie, big money — but we decided to keep a quality player like FdJ”. ⭐️🇳🇱 #FCB“We’ve never forced any player to reduce his salary, we’ve just asked in pacific way”. pic.twitter.com/Vc5STZo6Ft

Following the success of their free agent acquisitions of Andreas Christensen, Franck Kessié, Héctor Bellerín and Marcos Alonso, Barcelona intends to maintain their free agent recruitment policy in the wake of their financial condition, according to Sport.

The report adds that sporting director Mateu Alemany is content with the signings made by the Catalans this summer, and the Spanish giants will now keep a close tabs on potential targets who are approaching the end of their contracts.

According to Spanish outlet Sport, Barcelona are targeting Wolves midfielder Ruben Neves as a possible replacement for veteran Sergio Busquets, who is expected to leave the club next summer.

Xavi Hernandez’s side were initially interested in signing Real Sociedad’s Martin Zubimendi, but with reports that La Real are close to extending the youngster’s deal until 2027, the 25-year-old Portuguese playmaker seems to be the next priority on the agenda.

Barcelona has been one of the worst-hit clubs after the international break considering the injuries Xavi had to deal with. And therefore, the Spanish giants could be ready to splash the cash for Benfica’s left-back Alex Grimaldo. The Spaniard international was previously being chased by Juventus but Barcelona is ready to ship Jordi Alba to the Italians to remove them from the race according to Calciomercatoweb.

Palmeiras wonderkid, Endrick, had attracted attention from European giants after exceptional performances for the Brazilian club last season. And now Mundo Deportivo has reported that Barcelona is leading the race to get the youngster’s signature. It’s suggested that Barcelona has already held contact with Endrick’s camp to negotiate a transfer. Although Palmeiras’ asking price of €70m could turn out to be a deal breaker for the Catalans.

According to the Spanish outlet Fichajes, Joan Laporta is set to dump three big names from Barcelona’s roster. Jordi Alba, Gerrard Pique, and Memphis Depay could all be shipped out of the club as the three do not fit into Xavi’s plans. The club believes that the three players have very high salaries compared to their role in the squad with all their playing time reduced to a minimum this summer.

Fichajes reports that Barcelona is still interested in getting Celta Vigo’s left-back Javi Galan to Spotify Camp Nou in the summer of 2023. The 27-year-old is seen as a like-for-like replacement of their experienced left-back Jordi Alba. Marcos Alonso’s contract expires next summer and Jordi Alba has fallen down the pecking order making Galan a viable option along with the young Alejandro Balde.

Antoine Griezmann’s move to his former club Atletico Madrid is close to being sealed off and Barcelona’s coach Xavi Hernandez is quite happy for the Frenchman. The Spanish coach said that there’s nothing official yet but if there’s an agreement he’s happy for both parties.

El Nacional has reported that FC Barcelona will not continue their pursuit of Marco Asensio anymore. The club and Xavi believe that they already have a good attacking battalion while they also want to respect the ‘Gentleman’s Pact’ between the two clubs by not poaching for each other’s players.

The Blaugrana are still on the hunt for a world-class right-back to complete their backline. Although Diogo Dalot seems to be Xavi’s priority, the SPORT suggests Barcelona is also looking at Wilfried Singo of Torino and Vanderson of AS Monaco. Singo’s contract expires this summer and Barcelona would be hoping to get him to Camp Nou. As for Vanderson, the €60m price tag could be too much for the Spanish outfit to meet but the Brazilian is still on Laporta’s list.

Xavi and Barcelona have made Manchester United’s right-back their top priority in the upcoming summer transfer window. The Catalans do not have the best options at right-back and have previously been linked to the likes of Trent Alexander-Arnold, but it looks like the Spanish giants will target the Portuguese defender. SPORT reported that Barcelona has already made contacts with Dalot’s camp to ensure a move in 2023.

If reports are to be believed Inter is hunting Barca’s young left-back Alejandro Balde. The Spaniard has been a revelation under Xavi and has replaced Jordi Alba in the Catalan’s starting eleven. According to ElNacional, the Italians would present Barcelona with an offer of €30m.

The youngster’s contract expires in 2024 and if he isn’t presented with a better deal he could be approached by other clubs with Inter leading the race.

After bolstering their backline with some of the biggest names in Europe, Xavi might go shopping for defenders once again in the winter transfer window.

The Catalans could target Athletic Club’s Inigo Martinez according to Mundo Deportivo. The 31-year-old’s contract ends this season and he could join the Catalans as a free agent.

Barcelona left-back Jordi Alba might end up leaving his boyhood club soon. Calcio Mercato has reported that the 33-year-old might be on the move to Italian heavyweights Juventus. The Spaniard had fallen out of favour at Camp Nou after being replaced by a young Alejandro Balde and Barca’s new signing Marcos Alonso.

It’s reported that Juventus might need reinforcements at left-back as it could be Alex Sandro’s last season with the Italians, and Jordi Alba is one of the players on the four-man list made by the club.

Barcelona are interested in signing Manchester City midfielder İlkay Gündoğan once his contract expires at the end of the season, as per caughtoffside.

According to the report, Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola is a big fan of Gündoğan and wants to renew his contract.

As per tuttojuve, Newcastle United are leading the race to sign Barcelona striker Memphis Depay.

Depay was reportedly close to joining Juventus during the summer window. However, with Newcastle United registering their interest in the Dutch forward, the report states that Juve are no longer competing for him.

The debate around Antoine Griezmann’s future is finally coming to an end, with Barcelona and Atletico Madrid reportedly coming to an understanding.

The issue regarding his move to Atletico from Barcelona has finally been resolved with both parties agreeing on a permanent move, as per French outlet L’Equipe. Atletico will supposedly pay around €20m with €2m in variables.

Griezmann is expected to accept a hefty pay cut in order to make his Atletico stay permanent next summer and will sign a three-year deal at Wanda Metropolitano until the summer of 2026.

Argentine international Lionel Messi is still undecided over his future, with his PSG contract set to expire at the end of the season.

The 35-year-old has recently been heavily linked to a move back to Camp Nou. But apparently the Argentine is yet to make a decision though Barcelona are dicussing the same internally. Fabrizio Romano has reported that PSG want to extend Messi’s contract beyond 2023. But Messi will supposedly make a decision only in 2023.

Sources close to Lionel Messi insist he will decide his future in 2023, not now. Barcelona have been monitoring Millonarios starlet Daniel Ruiz for a long time and will try to sign him next summer, reports Sport.

Ruiz is apparently keen on a move to Europe next season. Along with Barcelona, he is also being monitored by Manchester City and Benfica.

Last season, Ruiz contributed 8 goals and 11 assists in 45 games for Millonarios.

As per Sport, Barcelona are keeping an eye on Marcus Rashford and Diogo Dalot’s contract situations at Manchester United. Both players’ contracts expire at the end of this season. However, Rashford’s contract has a one-year extension option that can be triggered by United.

According to the report, Barcelona were interested in both Manchester United starlets during the summer window, with manager Xavi particularly vouching for Dalot.

Manchester United are apparently set to offer Rashford and Dalot new deals to ward off interest from other clubs.

Lionel Messi’s former teammate and current Barcelona coach Xavi Hernandez has spoken about the rumours linking the Argentine with a return to Camp Nou.

There has been a lot of speculation about Messi’s return to his former club but Xavi feels that the time is not right to speak about such a sensational move.

Xavi on Leo Messi’s return to Barça next summer: “I think that now is not the time to talk about Leo’s return at Barça. He’s a friend of mine, he’s fine there, so are we…”. 🚨🔵🔴 #FCB“Barcelona is his home, so let him remain calm and continue enjoying himself in Paris”. pic.twitter.com/9EIEtHfRT6

Jeunes Footeux have reported that Tottenham Hotspurs are trying to bring Barcelona shot-stopper Marc-André ter Stegen to White Hart Lane.

With the French goalkeeper reaching the twilight of his career, Ter Stegen is a priority target for Tottenham apparently.

Real Sociedad midfielder Martín Zubimendi has been linked with a move to Barcelona recently but it seems he is about to renew his contract with the Basque outfit.

According to Spanish outlet Marca, the Catalan giants have identified the 23-year-old as a potential successor to Sergio Busquets.

The Spaniard’s current contract with Sociedad has three years left on it, and is thought to be protected by a €60m buyout clause.

Martin Zubimendi on Barcelona links for free transfer in June: “There’s very good feeling between me and Real Sociedad. My contract extension is matter of time”, tells @carrusel. 🚨🇪🇸 #transfers”Xavi wants me? I don’t even think about it now, I’m focused on Real Sociedad”. pic.twitter.com/rw4woEDrUf

According to El Chiringuito TV journalist Josep Pedrerol, Major League Soccer (MLS) clubs believe that Paris Saint-Germain star Lionel Messi is keen on a return to Barcelona.

Messi’s current contract at Parc des Princes is set to expire at the end of the season, and there has been some debate about his future, with multiple MLS clubs interested in signing the 35-year-old playmaker.

The seven-time Ballon d’Or winner, however, wants a return to Camp Nou apparently.

Barcelona are rumoured to be looking for ways to lure the global icon back to the club and offer him the option to retire at the club.

Being one of the most successful clubs in the history of the sport, Barcelona’s renowned stripes have been donned by some of football’s biggest stars. The five-time Champions League winners have been very active in the transfer market despite their financial crisis in recent times.

But who are the most expensive signings in Barcelona history? How much have the Catalan giants spent to sign these players?
