US coach: Iran match is a confrontation in the knockout rounds

Greg Berhalter, coach of the US national football team, stressed the sporting importance of the upcoming and decisive confrontation with the Iranian team, on Tuesday at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

“The game will be very difficult and powerful because each team wants to win and cross to the second round (16th round) and not for political reasons,” Berhalter said. We have to fight to qualify. That’s all.”

The match is decided by one of the two qualifying cards from the second set to the second round.

England top the group with 4 points to 3 for Iran, 2 for the US national team and 1 point for Wales.

After two consecutive draws, the US team will only have to win tomorrow’s game in order to qualify for the second round.

The history of the World Cups is witnessing one previous confrontation between the two teams; when the US team lost 1/2.

“The game against the Iranian national team is a confrontation in the knockout rounds,” Berhalter said. Either win or leave.”

He added: “We have not done our mission yet, and we want to continue our journey. With good performances we can inspire our people. That helps us, but we still have a lot to offer. And that’s what we’re going to focus on now.”
